BlueDress's First

Midway through week 4 - at 20mg this week.

Weight is up exactly one lbs since day 0 but this week we definitively see the change in the mirror that people have said becomes evident around the 4th or 5th week. She's happy to see some recomp taking place - especially in her lower body (I'll use a pic from yesterday trying on her M-Fit EJM Apparrel jeans for the first time in two years as her progress pic this week.)

Sides: nothing intolerable still but the acne is still there in her chest. I don't know if it's worse but I seem to notice more. She's pretty sure her hair his more brittle.

She was exceptionally tired most of the week. We had to take yesterday off and today she was complaining that all her joints ached doing triceps and shoulders. Had a pretty hellacious back workout Saturday, though. She did 8 x 187lbs on low rows for 4th set and actually 4 x 209lbs on her 5th set. Not a PR but she hasn't done that for a few years either so that was a big deal.

Two women approached her while she was out shopping yesterday and remarked about her physique - which made her feel good that is happening again. (Like I've said, she doesn't hear it when I tell her.)

Sleeping has been more difficult. I posted on Crystals thread earlier, we're unsure what it's caused by or maybe a combination of things - halting estradiol, increased dosage at 20 mg, or just stress at work... Either way, she's feeling exceptionally tired and even commented this morning that she might just do cardio a few days and take a short break from lifting. Anyone ever do that while in the middle of a cycle ?

.... And it's definitely the middle. Original plan was to go six weeks but she wants to increase to eight and maybe even to ten.

She looks amazing!!
It's funny how we all start prolonging put cycles. I told myself I would do 8 weeks first, then 10.. I'm now extending it to 12 weeks lol
I think this is the longest I'd run it though. I'm paying a high price with my hair. Still shedding so much of it and I can see how it's thinning a little at the hairline :(

Anyway, I think rest is just as important as training.
It's always good to listen to our bodies as over-training can be counterproductive. Bluedress may feel a lot better after a little lifting break.
I took a rest day in btw training sessions.
I wasn't very comfortable w it at first, but I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Is she running in a calorie deficit or surplus? Either way really, it might make her feel better to get a nice refeed day in and get a bump of extra calories - especially carbs. She has the kind of physique that would probably benefit from doing a refeed or cheat day once a week.

Of course, sometimes you do need to listen to your body and back off some. But either way, if she does back off and does cardio only for a few days the extra calories would probably be great for the anabolic effect of it and if she decides to keep lifting then the extra calories would probably make her simply feel a little better.

In a nutshell, make her plenty of pancakes in the morning :)

Are you familiar with the concept of a deload? Most aren't outside of more strength oriented training. Lots of ways to go about it, my preferred method is come in and do the same sets and reps except using 50-70% of the normal weight used for one entire week. Keeps the movements fresh and gets you in the gym and moving around. I don't like staying out altogether as I enjoy my gym time, but this is another option. There's others if you want to research it a little. I'd recommend the first one I suggested, it'll have you feeling better and ready to hit it hard when you resume normal training. Resist the urge to just go ahead and lift heavy even if you're feeling like it after a few days. Follow through with the deload and come back better.

To answer your question, yes, I do do exactly as I described every couple months. I try to plan for them, but I've been forced to take unplanned ones as well. I still made great gains. Better to get back to 100% than struggling along with reduced performance, feeling rough and risking injury in my opinion. Not going to lose anything in one week, worse case just maintain. Getting injured and wasting the rest of the cycle due to overtraining would be a much worse option.

Strange, my calc has her consuming a deficit - although she's seems bigger, harder and is up a single pound. (The magic of the medicine at work?!) We'd been having a single cheat meal - like the Paleo pancakes bacon and eggs last week...and cake, but I think you're right. She needs a higher injection of carbs while training like this - and other macronutrients too that she'd get by eating like a far kid one day a week. Spot on, I know BlueDress always comes back fierce after a little more food. Even though she looks and trains like a pro, she often reverts back to thinking like a "skinny-chick" during the day when she's dieting - and deprives herself too much and too long for the nutrition she needs to support her training regimen.

I'm going to seduce her with some good food - pancakes, and eggs whites. She won't resist.

Thanks PA ! I've never heard of deloading but it sounds awesome. I completely identify with the internal reluctance to "stop training" altogether to obtain enough rest to recover properly... And BlueDress is like that too. This sounds like a good method. I read your post this morning and told her about the idea. We deliberately reduced weight today doing chest - we almost took another day off. Naturally she felt much better.

I'm going to read up more on deloading. I like the fact that you plan it deliberately too - we should do that too rather than implement it when we're burning out and feeling injured... And conciously resisting the urge to go heavy immediately after feeling a little better.
Good stuff. Thank you.
(I frikin' love this board!)

That's the ticket. AAS and calories go hand in hand. I would expect her to be at least slightly above maintenance right now with cheat meals once a week.

Deload is a great idea too but I bet the diet adjustments will make a huge difference. I hate deloads but they are a necessity sometimes.

You're very welcome, it's what we come here for. For future reference with planning I'd recommend a deload the week before starting a cycle, especially with her doing shorter cycles of 6-8 weeks. That might be enough to get through the full cycle without needing one in the middle.

I'm currently on a 20 week powerlifting meet prep. I'm planning moderate deloads at week 7 and week 15 and then meet week a complete deload leading up to the competition. Last year I tried to go my full 16 weeks without one thinking AAS might let me get away without it and ended up forced to take a couple anyway. Hopefully planning this way will be more effective as I'll be taking them on my terms and not during important training weeks.

How you implement it is up to you. You'll find a lot of different schools of thought on it, some even saying it's a waste of time. I can say 100% that it's been effective for me for injury prevention and reducing lingering aches and pains compared to when I never did them. If you have any more questions on it feel free to ask anytime.

Thanks Devika! I'd really like to finish the first one at 8 weeks - maybe 10, but as this is her first, no longer until we better understand what the impact was on her liver from all this and we get post cycle blood work done to compare. Maybe 12 next time if all is too bad.

Rest is good. We're going on a vacation next week but will be able to train too. She's psyched and so am I, and hopefully we'll rest a little (at least sleep more) and I know BD will not demolish her diet but maybe eat a little more which will help - she earned the refeed and vacation.

So we did legs today...after carbing up a little last night and taking Eman's food advice.

Despite my trying to sell her on taking the rest of the week as a Deloading week last night (while we were stuffing baked potatoes into our faces)... and her concurrence, she must have been re-energized off our carb-a-palooza last night and kept adding weight to squats this morning. She did 8 sets and hit a PR squatting 8x225lbs - for her last two sets, no less. 1RM figures in at 280lbs - holy crap. And she did it twice. I think this was the biggest strength gain since we've started.

She also did box jumps, which she never does, afterwards. If she didn't have to go to work, she said she would have trained even longer.

Now entering Week #5 tomorrow. Continuing 20mg ED. Nothing really noticeable on sides than what I already described. Will switch up diet a bit now - adding more complex carbs, which is convenient since we're going on vacation too.

Thanks again for the great advice @Eman and @Perrin Aybara .

Wow!! So. Impressive! I think diet is why my gains are starting to lag. I decided to use the last 1/3 of my cycle to cut and not lose gains. But it is surely not as fun as making gains. Have fun next week! Look forward to hearing more about BD's progress!

Women can work more reps closer to their 1RM than men, btw, so 1RM calculations work a bit differently.

It's been almost two weeks since my last update. Finishing week 6 at 20mg ED. We just got back from a super nice cruise vacation in the Caribbean. We didn't do a lot of sightseeing off the boat - BlueDress was into resting, sunbathing, and working out, sometimes twice a day, like a crazy woman. Gym on the ship was suprising well-equipped. I think we really saw results the beginning of week 5 before the cruise and that just motivated her to eat right and train harder while away.

While on vacation, she was getting compliments/remarks from strangers (mostly women) several times a day. Twice I caught guys using there camera phones on her. In an case, she's been looking spectacular and the increased attention only served to inspire her more, and eat pretty clean - especially for a cruise. I think she has noticed that she made a big leap in gains by eating more on the cruise ( and less protein from shakes)and getting 8-10 hrs sleep a night. The extra-rest was like a silver bullet.

She's totally recomped from Day 1. She is noticeably leaner, harder, and a little bigger in the upper body. Her hips and thighs though really have leaned out more (still huge) these last two weeks especially. Incredibly, her weight is 0.4 lbs less than Day 1 when she started cycle- and she looks a lot different. I forgot to add that she has kept off her estradiol patch for three weeks now. She leaner without it and although she has had some hotflashes, she says they haven't been as bad as in the past and may try to give it up permanently after this. We'll see.

Strength is up. We did legs at our regular gym again yesterday and she was working comfortably with sets at 225 (although she hasn't tried for another PR there).

Still - no noticeable sides. She's gotten really tan and maybe its just me, but I notice the acne on her chest and back a bit more however she says it's not really different. No increased clitoris sensitivity or size. No voice issues. No change in libido. Hair is brittle but not falling out. No excess hair growth anywhere. She's ecstatic now that it is working so well and that she's had virtually no ill effects up to this point - and I so am I.

Will definitely "cease-fire" after 8 weeks. It's been good and she's stoked to do this again but I'll make sure we get at least 8 weeks off and bloods normalize before she grabs a Pez-dispenser with var in it again. Will talk to her about possibilities on stacking Primo or Anadrol next time, but I think she's delighted with what anavar has done alone and so safely.

BlueDress is bracing for the end of the cycle and fearing a loss on strength but most of all the energy and recovery capability she's experienced. She's psyched, though, to eat well and enter the cycle in even better shape than she started this one.

I'll post some recent pics shortly. Its good to catch up on all these threads now...everyone seems to be doing well here!

I did forget to mention one side--- "painful pumps."

Really it has been in her calves which have been prone to cramping and being tight ordinarily anyway. However now, it's been debilitating a couple times. We did 140 flights of stairs ( on the ship) with laps around the ship (just under 1/2 mile) and she was getting hellacious pumps. Happened training calves a when doing legs as well. She has noticed it in other muscles to a degree too but nothing as bad ever her life as those lately in her calves.

Welcome back and nice update. :) Glad to hear BD is doing fantastic. It sounds like your guys' vacation really did her well for body and mind. Looking forward to seeing her progress pics!

Taurine has really helped me with the painful muscle pumps. I notice a difference when I don't take it.

So glad to hear from you guys. I'm glad you two had a fabulous vacay.
BD is doing amazing, I can only imagine how she must look now, her pics from the beginning were jaw dropping!
Such a big inspiration.
If Anavar has done so much for her I could only imagine what primo would do.
I honestly can't wait to try it. I have a stash of it and I'm so bummed out I have to wait at least 12 more weeks to run it :(

Painful pumps can be easily resolved with Taurine. I take 2 capsules of 500mg each before I do arms or calves. It got to the point where I couldn't finish my workouts bc forearm pumps were so incredibly painful. Taurine took care of that!

Looking forward to seeing progress pics :)
