Bodybuilder dies squatting 450 with spotter, every time I've messed my self up it's been with a Olympic barbell, one way or another every time I have my hands around 1 all Im worried about is moving that weight, plus i usually work out alone, sold my power rack and I think im switch to a smith machine for my home gym.

Moving to a smith machine for squats because you are afraid of injury is pretty damn funny.

I also have no idea if you were going to link something but I also assume you switch vehicle types everytime someone dies in a car, bike, skateboard, or heelie accident?


i would also like to know what a spotter would be doing to save someone under a 450 pound weight in any case? I assume they are spotters gifted with massive telekinesis or a really huge gift for bicep curl capacity....
 
I 've watched the video. Squatting 450 with no safety bars OUTSIDE a cage is asking for trouble. IT's the epitome of fuck around and find out. Unfortunately he did.

At a MINIMUM he should’ve had a dude on each side in addition to the dude behind him.

Also didn’t seem like dude behind him could handle spotting that kind of weight.

I'm talking about personal experiences getting hurt with a straightl free weigy bar.
You wouldent rather smith machine squat than free weight working alone?

And its not hard to spot someone squatting you just get close and squat with them.

Wrong. You need 2 spotters at each side AND one behind you. You fail, you move forward, the 2 side spotters hold the majority of the load and the one behind you pulls back and holds some of the load.
 
Wrong. Not everyone needs a spotter, I usto see guys squatting 405 for reps solo all the time. And Superior for you or for most but some people cant even back squat. people can get huge legs without even squatting at all.

We are talking about properly setting up a safe squat. Weight has zero revelance.

And pardon my French but squat is much more than a fucking mass builder for the posterior chain. Metabolic effects and CNS stimulation is far superior than the mass building effect.

Yes it's a over all better mass builder for most I agree i said it above , everyone throws out so many blanket statements its kinda like your giving advice to a 14 year old training for the first time. I bet you think flat barbell bench is the best mass builder for a guy with a bum shoulder, they'll get the best results doing that most bang for your buck. How many top level pros in it for the long haul really rely on the barbell bench squat and deadlift? The most developed People I've seen in the gym do none of them.

I never squat. At 2 decades at the gym, from what I've gathered personal statistics of gym bros who go on a break, squatting is among top3 reasons to quit gym. Usually because they hurt something.

I'm not just that kind of lifter who could do pure forms year after year at high weights, statistically I'd already hurt something thrice if I had always squatted. All it takes is one day in a hurry with minimal warmup, feeling of trying new limits and maybe a bit of stiff back from a day of driving the day before.

Never felt like I missed out on something by not squatting.
 
If you look at the video that’s ‘trending’ at 13 seconds in when the squatter is on the floor, his spotter pulls the barbell horizontally back which knocks the squatter off balance and causes him to fall. So, thru idiocy and almost certainly inexperience, that’s where the death occurred. They all should have known better.
 
Saw the video, It's so sad...
everything in the video could have been prevented if there would be a spotter that knows how to spot or a squat rack with safety.

I mean don't blame the spotter, the spotter probably was some random dude in the gym who spotted a person for his first time, and the guy probably insisted him to spot anyway.

Thats my thoughts.

Yea my reading comprehension and spelling are not the best lol. I agree with u about the big 3 but imo it's not worth it something called risk to reward ratio, its not nessisary.
what is is doing what u like to do and what feels good, I shock the shit out of my CNS all the time without them ,Ronnie colman is a extreme example but look at him now compared to the guys he was on stage with.
 
Yea super sad good looking kid just a few years younger than me. I always thought it's not sad to die when u do what u love doing but that looked like a pretty ugly way to go.
 
Just watch kids. There will now be an attempt to ban the BB Squat in every gym, all because of this fuck stick nimrod.
