BODY BUILDER DIES SQUATTING 450 WITH SPOTTER.

For those that havent seen the video.

this kid 100% died as a result of the "spotter"

If that spotter wasnt there to absolutely fail him, he would have been able to easily dump the bar backwards.
the bar only moves forward onto his neck after his trunk stability fails and he fails forward due to the spotters assistance.

that clown killed that kid

A stunning reminder to all of us to know and use basic safety protocols, no matter how experienced or confident you are. Should have never happened....

Really weird way to die, I would have told the guy to back off and I would have dropped the weight. Happy I don’t squat heavy anymore

And its not hard to spot someone squatting you just get close and squat with them.
People who believe this idiot shit are why other's get hurt.

Squat in a monolift, squat in a rack, squat with multi-spotters (who aren't humping your ass but are on the ends), or just learn to dump the bar.

Having some jackass pulling on your tits from behind with 400, 500, 600+ pounds is retarded for all involved.

Once you are hitting competition range weights for your height you better be relying on actual physics for safeties instead of hopes and titty-twisting from behind.

Ok idiot , I'm talking about a bodybuilder this is more of a bodybuilding page, your talking mono lift competition weight for height that's power lifting , that's just plain stupid for a bodybuilder to worry about, like they would get hurt if they did. Genius

The kid in question that died, was attempting a 1 rep max.

everything he said was 100% true.

I go to a pretty serious gym with a number of accomplished BB and PL, and there is still only like 3-4 people total in that gym that i would trust spotting me on a 500lb+ squat.

Properly spotting someone with real weight is not something thats easily done or casually done.

Saw the video, It's so sad...
everything in the video could have been prevented if there would be a spotter that knows how to spot or a squat rack with safety.

I mean don't blame the spotter, the spotter probably was some random dude in the gym who spotted a person for his first time, and the guy probably insisted him to spot anyway.

Thats my thoughts.
Supposedly the spotter is the owner of that club they were lifting in. I saw video where all of the other staff were trained to “spot” by him in that same bullshit manner

I stand corrected I should have read that before ,

but like I said 1 rep max for a bodybuilder to be doing is retarded, might as well get in a squat suit an go for 1000 pounds with your mono lift an smelling salts, every offseason , And your right I was expecting people to understand u can Have 1 person spot you if your doing it serious it should be with a trainin partner of equal strengths and you are both fully away of each others capabilities,. And heck no it's not casual the spotter needs to get pumped up for it like the guy doing the work. I guess I really gota spell it out.

Interesting take.

I saw a video of a guy who chose to attempt a difficult lift outside of a properly setup rack, with a single spotter.

His call.

I’ve spotted guys in a similar way up into the 600’s. But always inside a cage, and always with the understanding I was just there to nudge them up if they get stuck. If the lift is a fail and they have to dump there’s always one way that goes and it’s not forward.

This lifter chose the spotter, the location, and the weight. Not sure we know enough to blame his death entirely on the spotter.

Perhaps it’s like if you asked me to install a new electric panel in your house, now you’re saying it’s my fault the house burned down. Is it really my fault?

1. Of course you can build big legs without squatting. But that’s not saying much. You can build a house with nothing but nails and a hammer. It being hypothetically doable doesn’t mean it’s anything close to optimal.

2. That was a horrifying video. A lot could have been done to prevent that. Dunno why one would be maxing without using the cage and safeties.

I could be wrong and I could admit it, can u admit telling someone to shut the fuck up over a screen like your tough, is a cowardly act. I would definitely feel less masculine.
Did I say anything about beating your ass ???? Nope … just shut the fuck up, you won’t stop trying to say you’re right

Lol I guess I'm just not usto getting talked to like that. Lol I'll shut the fuck up, I'm far from always right theres alot of people here who know way more than me but they dont know what works best for me.

It’s the single most effective lift in the gym so good for him for squatting. I only read 2nd page so maybe it’s been said already. But when I squat I squat alone. Wether just 225 or 495. But I always use safety bars. I prefer a cage with bars set high enough I can drop weight at bottom and fall underneath the suspended weight.

didnt watch video because I’m not a fan of gore or death, you weirdos. But did he not have safety bars? Or did and his spotter just find a way to mess that feature up too?

Matter of opinion but I say the most productive movement in any gym is the DEADLIFT. Why? So many more muscles involved, especially the upper body. Squats? 2nd best. Kick-backs 3rd...........not.

The best 2 exercises by far. Don't see a lot of people doing them, and even fewer doing them correctly.
