I agree 100%. Take Dan Green for example. Perfect balance of strength and conditioning in my eyes. I dont think you have to trade off. That's awesome to hear PLing rejuvenated your training. Its all about enjoying yourself and the workouts. You can definitely reach the leanness you're looking for while maintaining strength. As weighted mentioned, small cuts to your desired level of body-fat would be ideal. I believe training is a journey of self improvement so its important to be happy with your physique and its functionality too! You can do it brother, good luck.
