Brewers' Ryan Braun suspended for rest of season

"As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect," Braun said in a statement released by MLB. "I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions."

"I am deeply gratified to see Ryan taking this bold step," Mike Weiner, executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, told USA TODAY Sports. "It vindicates the rights of all players under the Joint Drug Program. It is good for the game that Ryan will return soon to continue his great work both on and off the field."

Braun's statement continued: "This situation has taken a toll on me and my entire family, and it is has been a distraction to my teammates and the Brewers organization. I am very grateful for the support I have received from players, ownership and the fans in Milwaukee and around the country.

"Finally, I wish to apologize to anyone I may have disappointed – all of the baseball fans especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates. I am glad to have this matter behind me once and for all, and I cannot wait to get back to the game I love."

Rob Manfred, MLB's executive vice president for economics and league affairs, said in a statement: "We commend Ryan Braun for taking responsibility for his past actions. We all agree that it is in the best interests of the game to resolve this matter. When Ryan returns, we look forward to him making positive contributions to Major League Baseball, both on and off the field."

.I don't mind the AAS, what I hate is when the player gets all indignant and holier than thou with the denials...... Braun's denials from before make him look like a complete douchebag now.

I agree...fuck Barry Bonds will be getting his last rights on his death bed, and he'll still deny he took anything. I think what Braun is doing is the best way to handle it. " Yup, I did it. I'm sorry. " He's due to make 14 million next year , hmmm whats the motivation for theses guys to use banned substances?

I just hope my man Chris Davis doesn't get popped, this day and age you can't put up numbers like that without hearing the whispers.

Like the Mark Mcquire looked over the top of his spectacles at the members of congress? What a dick...as if he was above reproach. Same thing goes for that Texas Ranger who denied....mustache. I can't remember his name but he was insulted beyond his breaking point. Laughable.

Some guys like Bonds have always lived in the WORLD OF MAKE BELIEVE where the rules don't apply to them. Barry's GodFather is "Say Hey" Willie Mays?
I was very young but can remember his Dad Bobby doing it all for the Yanks. Run, catch and hit.
Wasn't he the first 30 30 guy?
I've also said it before that the Dexadrine...amphetamine. When the players union broke, that year there was off the charts increase % wise of guys coming forward with scripts after having their Dr.'s "Diagnos and treat" ADD, ADHD and narcoloepsy.
The 160 plus game season is a grind. And they party...amphetamine can work wonders.

Yeah papa Bonds had multiple 30/30 years. Barry as well before 1998.
Baseball has always been dirty in some shape or form since the outset. Like the uppers, the greenies. Illegal pine tar, pitchers scratching the ball, stealing signs,
etc. These guys just continued it, I still have a hard time really calling this dirty.I am a bit biased to AAS.
I know one thing for sure these players drew unwanted heat to this whole thing, thus helping the negative stigma attached to AAS.

With future medical advancements, equipment improvements and future advancing in both medical implants and PED, I wonder if future citizens will look at today players who have been proven or admitted to PED's use differently?

I still believe that many players take AAS and many Peptide Hormones as a way to recover from injuries or to even play through injuries rather than to get a competitive advantage.

Anything that seems to do with increasing muscle seems to be cheating but what if players take compounds to increase the firing between nerves and muscle for better contractions and more explosive moves but doesn't necessarily increase Hyperplasia? Will that be considered cheating?

Or what if there are drug cocktails along with an improve medical advancement that may help a player who completely tear an ACL fully recover in less than 4 months after the injury as opposed to today? Will that be considered cheating or just a player taken advantage of todays advancements?

As long as it's legal within the rules I have no problem

So exactly what PED's are they taking?, it's never published...

I have NEVER used steroids - TODAY!! [:o)]

He's admitted it.

I'll give him a ton of credit for not bullshitting about it too.

I remember McGuire testifying to congress or the senate looking over his spectacles and him being so angry he was being accused. He lied and lied then. What a dope.

I'm curious about that as well, bc I believe only two guys on the list ever failed a test ( A-rod, Braun ). I could be wrong but they both got popped for testosterone. So I think there may be more HGH involved here being that MLB currently does not test for it. They are supposed to begin testing next year.

A-rod got popped on the original 2003 tests that weren't supposed to go public. Somebody got a hold of the list and published A-rods name, with some others.

He was positive for Primo, and had a news conference where he kept calling it Bolle, which I think was the brand name he was using, and said he didn't know what he was taking.

Here is what happened. During the latter part of the 2011 season, I was dealing with a nagging injury and I turned to products for a short period of time that I shouldn't have used. The products were a cream and a lozenge which I was told could help expedite my rehabilitation. It was a huge mistake for which I am deeply ashamed and I compounded the situation by not admitting my mistakes immediately.

He must be kidding - a guy making tens of millions of dollars and he has NO IDEA what he puts into his body???:rolleyes:
