Brewing Service/Fee's

I was wondering if anyone has used a Brewing Service before or had someone else brew for them exclusively (Ex. Lab, Friend, etc.)

I'm not looking for a source, just wondering what you brewed, how much and what was the trade off? Did you split the final product? Offer to pay a service fee? This is all assuming you provided the raws for said person to brew.

I'm unsure if this should be posted in the UG section or not. Apologies if its not the right place.

Cheers!

This would be very person specific! Its akin to hiring a contractor - Do you pay fixed fee, or a day rate! There are pros and cons to both.

Ideally you would just do it yourself. That way you can be confident that no corners have been cut.

Most labs aren't going to want to accept your raws. That's a massive opsec risk. You might be better off trying to place a custom order for what you want and paying a sourcing fee.

Obviously the best practice would be to do it yourself - that doesn't answer the question though. It's not always ideal depending on circumstances hence why I'm asking people who have actually done this. @tm007

Sure, you can cite OPSEC concerns to shut it down, but some labs already accept CIM and use return addresses tied to legitimate businesses/PO Boxes, so it’s not unrealistic in certain cases. @Photon

For the sake of discussion, let’s assume the lab or friend has agreed to take the raws. I’m just trying to get a sense of what kind of arrangements people usually make in that scenario... looking for first hand experience here.

Depends on the relationship you have with that person imo. If it's a friend maybe do something nice in return and obviously supply everything that's needed and split the gear if he wants some.

Anyone else you should probably pay. Just charge per hour and say you'd like an update if it takes longer than x amount of time. I wouldn't give them all the raws up front. Small batch first, gain some trust on both sides. If he's a snitch you'd get in less trouble too that way.

This is a strange question in that the answer seems incredibly obvious. What do you imagine the answer is? That people often create complex contracts involving trading exotic reptiles in exchange for brewing services?

If you hire a contractor to build you a deck and you buy all the materials, what do you imagine the financial arrangement would be? Is it likely that you simply pay said contractor for his time?

Gotcha so if he asks for 5 million dollars you just give it to him? You dont ask for general prices first?

Its a simple question and if you think you are above answering it im not sure why you commented in the first place.

What reptiles do you got to offer?

There is no general prices and if he asks for 5 million you refuse and pick someone else thata kinda how capitalism works. Also no there can't be set prices because for one there is a huge price between doing this and doing it correctly. If the person doing it for you has pharm level set up and doing by the book its going to cost you far more than the guy doing it in Mason jars on the kitchen stove.

What raws you want done play a factor also. Test is cheap and you spend more on consumables, PPE and 70% IPA just to create an aseptic environment than the raws are worth if its not a huge amount. Where as something like primo the raws are the most valuable part. But the biggest factor is how professional is their process. Doing it the RIGHT WAY is expensive as fuck. So thats not something you can put a system on it's gonna need to be on a individual basis with the person. But doing it half ass is extremely easy so I am going to assume if your outsourcing it ypu want it done properly.

Yeah, that’s exactly why I asked for a range... not a fixed price list. Obviously it varies based on setup, raws, equipment, environment, etc. A general estimate is still standard in every service industry. That’s all I was looking for.

No need to turn a simple question into a philosophy lecture on capitalism, its really not that deep.

Are you looking for a cost curve per vial vs amount of raw to be processed? Probably a flat fee upfront as well. A lot of risk.

What an interesting topic.

Because it's not a simple question it's got a thousand variables.
