Building traps

Again no help just being nasty. AND again no one else has a problem but you. Grow up.

Oh and I will not continue this ridiculous back n forth with you. Thanks..
Im interested to see your stellar traps OMM...please indulge us all.
We've all seen the B&W mustache banana hammock pic from 88...what else ya got

@Demondosage gave the best advice in this thread from a BB perspective...but you can build traps easily with heavy compound movements. I do 2 warm up sets and then nothing over 5 reps, hang cleans will get you the height. Throw in deads and upright rows to round it out. I've never done a shrug in my life, farmers walks and platform work, heavy manual labor. I don't have a "well rounded physique", and I wont be winning any contests covered in baby oil anytime soon, but I do got traps. This is what worked for me if anyone can take something away from it, plenty of photos in my media section to show the results.

Ive been doing 6-8 sets of chin-ups (using a 2x8 instead of a bar) then going directly into Bent over rows 6-8 sets , just heavy enough to get 7-8 reps . I feel these in my traps big time .

I know Ive gotten stronger since I parked my lat pulldown bar and started back doing real chins and pull-ups . They are the hardest upper body exercise , and harder means better...

Good deal man. I agree with you as I said these are pulling exercises as traps do. Also the chin-ups are great. The guys I see with good backs are doing chins they are a bit different then straight pull-downs as you mentioned. When you think, your body weight is heavy and you can't really cheat as so many people do on lat pull-downs. Rows again are a pulling exercise.

on military press/ohp and trap involvement, shrug it out at the top of the movement, you'll feel your traps. Its mentioned in kelso's shrug book, but I actually tried it today. can confirm trapinvolvement/10

TEK is a good guy. Solid advice on being a strongman, wildman, outdoorsman, and all things man.
Looking at his harvesting thread makes me want to eat a steak with my bare hands and wrassle a bear.

Forum is filled with type A personalities. Everyone butt heads but once you've been around for a while you get to know everyone and learn who are the solid guys. Most everyone here is

Leancuisine !!,

Ok and that's why I'm over my first day's saga. :( Me and Turkker went around but I'm over that. I did admit I came out of the box sideways and really started the BS attitude.

However the immature posting of I'm gonna live longer and the mustache and the show me your traps (ha my worst body part) the old fart. Really kinda stupid. But i'm ok with it. I thank you for your support for the forum as well as some to me. :)

As I don't know anyone, they too do not know me. I have two degrees, construction management, and structural engineering, a State Certified General Contractor by exam before I finished college , owned a gym, been on the Corporate board of a fortune five hundred CO. a water skiing competitor n coach and a pretty successful comp BB'er. Ya know a little boasting there, but in the grand scheme of everyone's live SO WHAT, mike lol. To my miss-fortune I was a severe n heavy drug addict doing IV drugs and all that bad stuff ( bad bad shit) not proud of that, cosdt me much, but again an experience. Just been around a lot of things over my years.

So my age serves me well as I didn't come from trash lived amongst wealthy and educated people. Again so what, but I have been around and not stupid or old fashion.

That's all I mean by telling you a little (or too much) about me.

I hope you take this post in the right vein and appreciate my letting you know about myself. Thanks for the input man . :) :) Have a good day !

Rippetoe's OHP, shrug at the top, for each rep. Then, after the last rep of the last set, keep the bar up, and shrug AMRAP. Destroys, imo.

Well going to go the traps eod route and did 45 lb plate shrugs, seated db shrugs, and standing cable shrugs all superset to failure and omfg did the pump feel amazing.
