Don't be afraid...
I am a lawyer, but not a litigator so I will keep specifics to a minimum. I will say that you should not be afraid to speak with your lawyer. If you hire a lawyer you are paying him to represent you so tell him what you want (to fight to the end, make it go away quickly and quietly ,etc.) and if they don't know jack about AS and ancillaries educate him or make sure he gets educated. I have law school friends who went on to become federal level public defenders and while state and federal are two different worlds they were very passionate about their work. If you go with a public defender don't feel you can not voice your opinions just because they are paid by someone else, they are still there to serve you. Again, if a PD doesn't know a syringe from a knitting needle make sure they learn, if you have materials to help educate them give it to them. Be courteous but firm in expressing what you want b/c they have an obligation just like any other attorney to represent you and not their own interests. Good luck...
