CKD Help

Still deciding on whether I am going to do a 1 or 2 day refeed. Any help would be appreciated. 6' 215lbs, probably about 9-10% BF. I have been on CKD since Monday, and already I have lost 9lbs. I can definitely keep going on Keto for awhile, so as far as that goes, a 1 day refeed isnt a problem. I just think 2 days (or even 1.5 days, start my refeed in the evening) would be better because I have lost a lot of weight fast. I also read that lower bodyfat% dieters should refeed more often. Let me know.

P.S. I am also on 25mcg of T-3 day. Adding ECA on Monday and wanting to ramp up to 50mcg of T-3 ED as well. Also, Pretzels have NO FAT! Woohoo! They are going to be added on refeed day. Also, the Emeril Brand Tomato Sauce (for Pasta) has 3g fat per 1/2 cup. (Most other brands have between 18-26g). I am going to add a half-cup to an entire box of angelhair pasta...mmm!

P.S.S. If you are having to drink olive oil (like me), I found a great way to get a lot down. Put as much as you need to drink into equal parts OJ in a glass. Stir quickly. As you keep stirring, start drinking it. It doesnt taste very bad, as the OJ masks the oil well. Just a little tip.

OH SHIT, as I laid down for bed I realized...I just drank OJ (WHICH HAS CARBS). Damn it! Well, it was probably only about 20g worth. Hope I am still in keto (all I had was chicken in olive oil for my meals besides this). I should be.

P.S. Just checked...4 fl. oz. of OJ is 13g of carbs. That is fine, but really stupid of me.

If you want to drink oil, I use it in my water/protein drink. Refeed 1X per week is good and recommended. I do the same. Although, when feeling lathargic due to no carbs, I get a quick fix of say oj, fruit juice etc, but no more than a couple of ounces.

If you refeed more, on the second day or half a day, keep the carbs lower than on the first day. Kinda like pyramiding down.

What else are you eating on your refeed days? I am struggling to eat enough carbs with very low fat. The Ketogenic Diet book by Lyle McDonald says to keep them beloww 88 grams of fat on refeed day 1 while eating anywhere from 600-900 grams of carbs. I feel like my stomach is going to explode.

Also, what are you eating on week days. Burgers seem to be the easiest and tastiest way to get all the fat and protein. Any advice would help. Isn't all the weight you lost in a week mostly water?

Theres two different things goin on here. Im not sure if Mark is doing the traditional CKD, like outlined in The Ketogenic Diet, or whether hes doing an updated version like Lyle's new Ultimate Diet 2.0.

Either way, res, 80-90g of fat during a refeed is too much. Stick with 35-50g.

Res, how long are your refeeds? Also, what is your bodyfat %?

I stick to a 24-36 hour refeed. Bodyfat is just under 14% as of 2 weeks ago. Hopefully a little lower now. How is his new book? Old one started getting a little technical in places and didn't really give specific examples of a diet to go by. What eating during the week too? I am eating the hell out of walnuts to try and stay away from burgers soo much.

His new book is much more of a how-to and not as much technical stuff. The Ketogenic Diet never was really meant to be a how-to book in terms of application. I would suggest buying the new book, well worth the money.

Anyway, if you refeed for 24-36 hours, I would suggest dropping your fat intake down like I mentioned before. And increase your carb intake to 6-8g/lb of LBM during that 24-30 hours. No caffeine during a refeed either.

Why no caffeine? Oh my God. That is 1,400 grams of carbs! What about during the week? Last question and I will buy the book.

Caffeine reduces insulin sensitivity, which is not something you want while eating a ton of carbs. Yes, Im well aware that carb intake will be 1000+ grams. DUring the week, under 75g.

Read his Ultiamte Diet 2.0. It seems like I will be eating less fat during the week than the weekend. I am going to keep calories around 1400 during the week. That only leaves about 34-40 grams of fat. I will basically be eating all protein during the Mon to Thurs and all carbs Friday and Sat. On Sunday, taper carbs off as the day goes on. Also, he recommends clen on weekdays, but i thought clen was a 2 week on 2 week off deal?
