Richard Sciacchetano, whom a federal prosecutor said has connections to the Bonanno organized crime family, was the primary supplier of marijuana to the drug ring.

The operation was run by Bethel resident Mark Mansa, 46, and it distributed at least 1,000 pounds of marijuana in the last year alone, according to a federal prosecutor handling the case.

He also noted that the co-defendants are facing additional charges beyond marijuana distribution.

Mansa is facing several charges for allegedly selling anabolic steroids, including conspiracy to distribute and several counts of possession that stemmed from controlled purchases with an undercover informant last spring, court documents state.

Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Vizcarrondo noted in a previous court appearance that area high school athletes were among Mansa's clients who purchased steroids.

Mansa also sold steroids to individuals in the "muscle industry," the prosecutor said during Mansa's initial court appearance March 1.

dont know if this is true. but when i was under 21 i had less of a problem getting drugs than alcohol. alcohol is behind the counter and you need id. or you have to get someone who is of age. not drugs. and drug dealers deal drugs for money. or free drugs. plain and simple. not as a favor to anyone. and they dont card you. there are no restrictions. or quality controls. something to consider maybe. not sure how you would prevent online sales. of any kind of drug. online id? food for thought. and underage drinking still goes on.
