A lot of bullshit in these stories...

Assistant state pathologist Margaret Bolster blames steroids for fatal brain swelling. Justified the finding by stating steroid side effects were an "evolving story". Indicated it didn't matter that only low levels of stanozolol were found - its mere presence was fatal. I don't think the deceased's mother even bought the explanation; she had "reservations" about the findings.

Student Luke O’Brien May’s death ‘is a warning against taking steroids’

"Dr Bolster said that the cause of death was severe cerebral edema — accumulation of fluid in the brain — and brain stem swelling because of the ingestion of stanzolol.

"She stressed that the impact of steroids on the body was an “evolving story”. She said that quantity was not always an issue as some people could die despite having low levels of steroids in their bodies. Dr Bolster said that the issue was whether anabolic steroids “were present or absent”.

"After the verdict, Ms O’Brien May said that she had reservations about the findings and the cause of death."

Coroner Philip Cornyn uses Luke O'Brien's death to highlight the significant dangers of steroids to the heart, liver and kidneys. But O'Brien's heart, liver, kidneys and lungs were perfectly healthy for organ donation to five lucky recipients.

Irish steroid death lad's mum reveals horror symptoms days before he died

'He was pronounced dead on June 18 and his family chose to donate his lungs, liver, kidneys and heart valves.

'His inquest heard a man in his 30s got his lungs, his liver went to a man in his early-60s and his kidneys were received by a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s who were both on dialysis.

[...]

'Coroner Philip Comyn said he hoped that people would become “aware of the dangers of these drugs with Luke’s passing”.

'He said: “This is a terrible tragedy of the death of a young man who took this to help with his sporting career.

'“I want to highlight the dangers of taking anabolic steroids which are taken to increase muscle mass and help to compete and to train harder.

“But there is a significant health risk including damage to the heart, liver and kidneys.”'

Dr Bolster sound very uneducated on the effects of steroids. She’s talking out of her ass and the media will eat that shit up as usual.

Cork University Hospital consultant physician Robert Plant was absolutely certain that they ruled out every possible cause for the cerebral edema and the only remaining explanation must be anabolic steroids!

Warning after teen dies from steroid use

"[Dr. Robert Plant] told Dr Comyn he could say with certainty that doctors found no other cause for the brain swelling. He said the myriad side-effects of drugs such as Stanozolol on the liver, kidneys, heart, and brain are well-known but he said there is increasing awareness that such drugs are also neurotoxic."

It's bullshit like this that can cause a wildfire backlash against gear.

It's in the news and people will believe this shit.
Also you never know what dumb fuck politician will see this and act on it thinking every teenager is gonna use this and die.

Looking at just that story there were other factors listed that may have caused or contributed to this.
He played football and rugby. A hard hit could've caused brain swelling from a concussion type injury.
I had a roommate pass away from a motorcycle accident. He wasn't wearing a helmet and crashed and hit his head. He came home, ate and talked and hung out for several hours. Says he felt really tired, went to bed and never woke up.... They did an autopsy and found his brain swelled and that was what killed him.

That article also said he ate bad eggs.
Who knows if he had predisposed issues but to pinpoint low amounts of Winstrol as the definite cause seems like a complete guess to me.

But but but but.. the consultant physician testified that he ruled out all other causes with certainty. He couldn't tell the family that he had no idea what caused it or how to stop it. It MUST have been steroids!

Of course this is British football, ie soccer, but those guys get concussions too, just not as often as NFL football. And rugby is rather physical. And so on. Who knows, he was an athletic kid, maybe he was trying to do some crazy stunts like backflips etc and banged his head.

Not that I'm in the medical field, but isn't a swollen brain (once you've ruled out stroke, hemorrhaging, or an infection like meningitis) pretty much only caused by physical impact of some kind?

Reminds me, when I explain my TRT use to friends in Europe, I really have to lay the groundwork and concepts out for them, because they have been so indoctrinated in viewing testosterone and steroids as pure evil and extremely dangerous. Lunacy.

Neurotoxic - really?

I've seen this situation before in the corporate world.

This is the medical world equivalent of getting a new case on your desk at 4:50 PM and you finish work at 5:00 PM.

Or trying to make a name for yourself at the expense of someone else. Disgusting either way as the general public will never doubt a so-called doctor. Heck, people will believe just about anyone on YouTube is a “professional” and more then half them fucker look like they don’t even lift.
What’s so sad is the deceased turned out to be a humanitarian ie donating his organs and saving FOUR lives! May the gates of heaven welcome him widely. RIP

Could this be meningitis or something like it from a poorly performed injection? Maybe injected contamination directly into the blood stream or something? Even if the infection didnt reach the brain there is still systemic inflammation, "cytokine storm" and so forth.

Yes meningitis could have been a factor but it seems that winny made for a better story.
I would have come closer to believe the steroids were contaminated with fungi to cause the meningitis.
I believe fungi if I'm wrong feel free to correct me.
