Cowboy's Switch the Darkside

Yeah read I can bench with the SSB if I have to.
SSB Squats, good mornings, lunges, JM PRESS if you take the handles off. You can take the handles off and turn the SSB around to do front squats. Definitely not ideal but it’s something. An SSB is a great second or third bar to have but if it’s your one and only it’s a bit tough

All I got until the Oly bar shows up

So downloaded the manual for the rack, the j hooks are rated to 300lbs, the rack is 2x2 tubing.

I squat over 300 and hoping to bench over 300. I wonder if I can weld gussets on the bottom of the j hooks, get stronger j hooks (good luck right now) or just overload it for now and wait to order a better rack down the road.

Thought @Perrin Aybara or @Worf

The rating is likely minimum safety standard but most have a safety factor built into. Just be safe...I wouldn’t put 450 lbs or more on it.

Yeah thats my thought too. I am going to gusset the j hooks anyways and then when the world gets back to normal a Rogue or Texas cage is in store for me lol

Thanks, these look perfect, just couldn't find pin size, assume 5/8?

Plus I am snow mexican lol, but will see what can be done.

When all the shit clears up and the run on gym equipment slows will look at a titan or a rogue rack

Better measure for the holes or you’ll be grinding the pins down. I had to do it because I couldn’t get what I needed from TSS since they’re sold out of damn near everything

The cheap J Hooks my cage comes with are 5/8 pins. I need everything to get here so I can set it up and get measurements. I asked if I drove down to pick up instead of them delivering, if they would upgrade to a different rack. Would work out they owe me 30 bucks with the difference between cost of racks and my delivery costs. They wont have the other one in stock for up to 12 weeks, so not an option. Titan and Rogue are pretty much out of everything. Plan then is to weld on a gusset to these ones just for added security. I will measure the holes and if I can swap out the 5/8 pin for 3/4 or 1in I will. A buddy of mine is gonna do the gussets and pins if I can for me. He isnalso fabbing and powder coating me a plate and bar rack and I only have to pay for materials.

I'd just overload it till I got something better. In my experience most safety recommendations are well below the danger zone so to speak. Probably should include a disclaimer that I'm not an expert nor should my advice be taken by anyone lol.

Agree and gonna gusset they look cheap. Was thinking get buddy to build me a complete rack. 3x3 11 gauge, and see what the price is on material. Or wait, I just want to get lifting again. Losing weight too fast and know its muscle and with it strength

Up at 130 for a MVI truck fully involved fire, stupid drunk drivers, anyways got home about 430 so no point going back to bed.

Stepped back the cardio some this past week, 4.5lb drop in a week a bit much the previous week. 2 shorter sprints and a 6 mile hilly hike, run up all hills. Almost killed the young fella with us. I keep reminding him I am 4 years away from 50 so keep it in mind when he wants to quit lol.

Anyways weight today 209, drop of 2lbs for the week. This is a much better rate of drop.

The young lads just don't have the jam like the older fellas do.
