Cowboy's Switch the Darkside

Going to sleep on it tonight. Hammy starting to hurt a bit more now after DL. Have PT appt tomorrow. He just replied to my email with pic and he is starting to get concerned. His PT side says stop, no lifting and let it heal. His friend side says I have worked hard 2x this year to not compete is tough, and says maybe just do bench.

What a complete waste, 2 preps in 1 year for nothing. Yeah I hit a couple PRs im the gym 500x DL, 285x2 bench, 335x1 slingshot bench, 415 wrapped squat but none of this is at a meet.

I am at a loss, another reason I want to do meet is to get a chance to see how it is run, all the intricacies with it all, warm up times, lifts, attempt submissions etc.

I'm thinking, you still have a week to go, and although a couple days off to heel is not ideal, it's probably better than taking a chance and making it worse than it already is.

If you miss a couple of sessions you might not show as prepared as you would like, but if you damage it more you may not show at all..

Best of luck either way!

Going to be trying Deadlift this am, hoping can hit my opener, then I know I can push pull as a minimum. Will try squat Saturday and see...

Meet director said I can change from full power to push pull or bench only at weigh in so a week to figure it out.
Yes, I believe that you will succeed and the injury will bother you the least. Yes, there is not much time to determine the tactics of performing at the competition.

I don't know anything, but I think you might be best to not aggravate it any further until it heals a bit.
I think at the moment of injury this is the most correct thing. But emotions are sometimes discouraged to us to reasonably assess the situation. I've made such mistakes myself.

I'm sure that if you miss the competition, nothing bad will happen. You heal your injuries and then you can make a big increase in your personal results. And now I think this is a performance for the sake of a performance. I do not teach, I just reason out loud).

It seems to me the risk of aggravating the injury and turning it into a more serious one. But I also wish him the best of luck.

Nothing bad will happen, just pride hurt. I am benching for sure and maybe deadlifting. Kept things lighter yesterday and pulled 435 no issues, so thinking meet goal on DL doable at this time. Records will be set by me next year.

PT does not want me to DL at meet. He is now saying that it looks like the Adductor is torn, and possibly the hamstring as well...have 3 appointments with him next week so told him we will see on Friday if I am deadlifting at meet or not.

Great action plan. I am sure that everything will work out and will achieve success now and when you return your health to personal records, it will be a matter of time)

Yes, it would be great to know the exact diagnosis and from this already plan the load on the competition. I am sure that you will make the most optimal and reasonable decision.

Deload week 5 days out from meet.

Bench 4x3 at 50%
135x8
150x4x3

Deadlift 4x3 at 45%
135x5

PT did dry needling on my injured hammy today. Said he knew I was going to push my luck and he is trying to make it as doable as he could.

Thursday will be same may try squats but wont be over 135 if I do

Great, the workloads are on the decline. Give the body time to recover and give the right time

Deload in hopes I can peak for meet in Sunday. Hoping I can squat at least the 135 to just put up a squat number at meet... depth may be issue as I struggle with lighter weight and now in back of mind further injury to hamstring....

I wish that everything worked out with the least loss. I am sure you fully deserve the result with your attitude and work. I am sure that success awaits you

Last lifting day before meet 3 days out

Squats -listing all that I did to get a feel for how the hamstring was going to do.
BWx8 goblet
25x8 goblet
Barx5
95x2
115x1
135x1
145x3x1
155x3x1
Had issues with depth at the lighter weights so kept going up until I could hit depth easy about 145

Bench
135x6
155x4x3

Deadlift
135x5
225x3
245x4x3

Openers unless @Perrin Aybara has different idea

Squat 70kg (154.5) may stop here or go up in 5kg increments

Bench 120kg (264.6)

Deadlift 210kg (463)

Its been a tough go with things not going as planned, injuries, and now roads, weather and my handler backed out so going it alone.

It's time to rest and get ready to show good results in competitions. I wish you the result, so that the body and health will give you the opportunity to implement the work done. Good luck to you
