Ears ringing 24 hours a day.

I know that thyroid plays a role in why someone's ears may ring. I've had my thyroid in check for many months now and the ringing does not go away. I started having this issue few years back when my GP put me on wellbutrin at a high doses. I discontinued because of the ears were ringing and had panic attacks. It ring 24 hours day everyday.

Has anyone experienced this? How long does it take to subside after your thyroid is in check?

Is there a relationship between tinnitus and thyroid? I do not know, but this is a very common complaint with aging.

I have had tinnitus pretty much constantly since high school. Mine is from loud music. If I go to a concert my ears will ring pretty loud for like 4 days straight. It sucks, but there is nothing you can really do about it.

I can't say for a fact there is a relationship. Every time I do some research on tinnitus, thyroid seems to always be on the list of causes. I've posted on other forums and members have mentioned thyroid as well. So I'm speculating that it may or may not. I don't have any studies on it, but I was looking to see if anyone had this issue and if it was because of thyroid problems or anything else.

I know aging can cause this, but I'm only 29. It rings all day and never stops.

I get it when my cortisol is low and my adrenaline high. Like after a night drinking or heavy exercise.

I think the adrenaline just makes your sense of hearing more alert -fight or flight- so you notice the backround ringing more.

You mentioned welbutrin. these type meds do this. I first noticed a ringing when I took prozac for the first time.. I dont really think it caused it. More like it put me in a state when I could realize it. Now anytime I want if I slow down and think about it I can tell its there. Probably just common tennitis you realized when on that drug and now you are aware of it.
