Eating Meals in Between Sleep

What are your guys thoughts on doing this? My calorie intake during bulking right now is 5750.

My schedule is really off, Meaning I sleep in till around noon. Anyways, I usually start my first meal around 1-2PM. I don't eat much for meal 1, then I eat pretty good Pre-workout and go to the gym around 6-8PM. I'm about 2,000 calories down average at this point.

After the gym I eat a ton and then go to sleep around midnight or 2am. By the time I'm sleeping I have maybe 3500-4000 cals down. Then I set a alarm for 2-3-4 Hours varies and I get up and eat my meals, take some digestive enzymes and go back to sleep and do the same thing till around 10am when my meals are finished for the day. Then repeat.

What are your thoughts on this? I understand surplus needed to grow as the most important thing alongside protein intake for the most part, but I never understood how the body can tell the diff between a deficit or surplus in calories? Does it cycle them to determine growth or loss or does sleep auto-set the body as the finishing clock, meaning the calories post sleep are junk unless for the next day?

I should note I have been gaining weight and mass doing this, but I'm just curious.

Also, My diet is not TOTAL JUNK, but its IIFYM. Meaning I eat for the most part a mix of pastas, Milk, Protein sources such as Fish/Ground beef/Chicken, and I usually eat about 4-5 TV dinners that are about 400-600 cals each. Usually mix of pasta/protein with a fair amount of fats added into it. Also on the odd day if I'm on the run I will eat fast food, not the total shit high cal stuff, but usually the hamburgers or cheeseburgers only and if I'm really behind I do pack down whole pizzas frozen. Hard to eat super clean meals when macros req are so high for me...I try to stay away from high sugar foods and just total useless foods for BB with no protein in it really.

I used to keep a beer fridge beside my bed. Id make a few protein shakes every night before bed, set an alarm, roll over and pound a shake, go back to sleep and do it again every 2-3 hours..

@michaelmmm, a lot of questions in that post sir. Waking up to eat would be one extreme and fast food on the other for this lifestyle. Getting in your macros (protein especially) is key. If your training hard your body needs rest.

The body does not see a difference really between surplus and deficit. To put it simply, if there is an abundance or surplus of calories then the body uses what is needed for normal physiological processes and leftover calories have to go somewhere so they’re either stored as fat, muscle, or a few other things. If you’re in a calorie deficit then there is not enough energy to meet the body’s needs so the remaining energy requirements must come from somewhere, typically either fat or muscle.

I listed the diet foods I eat above, when it comes to fast food it's really the basic burgers and nothing fancy or super high cals or fried up. Most of my cals come from tv dinners, milk, protein meats and pizza if I'm behind. I don't know how else to eat 6000 cals which is now required for me to gain other wise. I'm having trouble doing it with these foods, let alone doing it with rice and broc/chicken meals....?

I see. What do u think about waking up to eat and sleep. I get up a few times anyways throughout the night cause of my baby and he needs to eat. So Overall, my sleep it poor and what do u personally believe on my diet sort and IIFYM method I'm using to pull 6,000 cals in per day?

I think purposely disrupting your REM sleep to eat is stepping over hundred dollar bills to pick up nickels.

If you wake up randomly, pound a shake

Read above posts I replied too, answers questions, but yes sleep is important. thats why i'm asking

What if instead of IIFYM you did a real diet, set meals and times and then it shouldn't be a big deal to hit the calories you need? Just plan according to your schedule but don't wing it have a set meal plan

Waking up on purpose to eat is not something I would ever do. I do wake up a lot bc of sleep issues so I do eat in the middle of the night but that’s me waking up normally. If you’re up bc of the baby then so be it but don’t wake up just to wake up.

As long as you’re not completely moronic with the diet you’ll be fine.

Can u explain to me the last part u said about the diet? I don't eat sugar junk or very little if so, just mostly processed stuff with tons of sodium. I literally prob intake 8-10g of sodium each day from canned stuff, tv dinners (chicken, meats, potatoes, mac n cheese, fish, pastas, ect...), frozen fish, ground beef, chicken, tuna, random frozen foods like bag of ravioli, lots of simple carb pastas like ramen noodles ect.. pancakes, waffles, milk, fast food burgers (only cheeseburgers and hambugers), sometimes taco bell mix

thats pretty much what my calories consist of. Do u think my eating is very less optimal compared to a real diet?

Also, little off topic, but do u think taking 2 benadryls and melatonin 10mg together to help aid sleep each time will have long term effects or no? I've been using it to help sleep each day now. Mostly having issues sleeping from the tren leaving my system. it's been 4 weeks since I took the last shot..

I have tried. I can do it with 3000-5000 cals pushing it, but when it becomes more than that it's a major problem. Even if I ate on the dot every hour, which is hard as hell to do if ur a normal person and not a BB doing it for the living, the appt loss for the types of food comes fast within the weeks and honestly all it take is "one of those days" where u fall behind a meal or 2 and end of cramming everything and it messes up the next days meals and the nexts and it's a chain keep going...

Do u really think u can personally eat 6000 calories in clean complex, healthy fats and meat protein sources man? I'd give u props if u can do it for a few weeks and major props if u can do it for a 20 week bulk because it's so damn hard and especially with my cals req going up every couple weeks...i add 250 or so..

Since BMR requirements are LOW when at rest, whatever is consumed should be slowly digested and/or absorbed such as casein protein.

That bc under low BMR conditions a greater proportion of calories will be stored as fat.

Finally a word of caution, overweight eaters are often overnight eaters, and as such for the majority, it’s a “habit” that is best avoided altogether.

I understand but surely that can't be the case for people that have high calorie requirements and train intensely? It seems like your speaking of people that have in general low requirements to gain weight in the first place and don't do any activity at all, with that I can see what ur stating.

I mean I have a high metabolism in general from the activity and need lots of calories in order to gain, I mean if I went to sleep and didn't eat enough for the day I would lose and each time I wake up I'm hungry, so how can it be stored as fat if I require say 6000 calories to gain size when I'm sleeping in a deficit hunger state, when u say the calories turn to fat? I'm not doubting u, I just don't understand the conflicting information.

I should also ask I run manual 25mcg t3 each day and I'm on 1g of test and train for 2hours in the gym pretty intense with a PPL,PPL, Rest routine, does any of this come into play with eating at night? Because if not I literally I have start packing my meals as soon as I wake. It's very hard to eat my calorie req even with IIFYM

Improve that waking up and eating — better to sleep:)
(Just opinions and options :)

As soon as ya wake up slam some oatmeal, or eggs and few carbs of choice.
(Revs metabolism for the day)

In the past I’ve had trouble eating on first rise, to overcome this id drink my calories

6-12 eggs, scoop of peanut butter, with hot coco mix— all mixed with milk.

Biggest I’ve ever been was drinking 6-12 eggs a day on top of food..,

^^^ I personally don’t drink the eggs no more, although cholesterol checked good,— got to where I could see my heart beating hard in my stomach while laying in bed
(Maybe normal but freaked me out)

Think @TorroXL still drinks the eggs? If the bull does it must work LoL

U guys don't get sick from doing that? Just regular eggs from store? Just crack em and mix em with stuff?
I can do like 6 eggs, almond butter, chocolate milk, Olive oil, Yogurt into a shake pretty easily now that I think about it. Prob, easy 1000 cals down at the min.

I drank egg whites before, never eggs though. Not worried about the taste, just dont want to get sick for days

Been doing it over a decade and never got sick. I’m always interested in new things to mix it with. I have a nutribullet and do about 5-6 eggs a time. Mix kale, pb, milk, protein, oats, carbs, creatine and all sorts of stuff. Any suggestions brutha to get me close to 1000 cals per drink???

I take it ur a "clean/healthy" bulker? I bulk on loads of random crap for my 6000 calories a day and rising. I only work out for 2 hours on average PPL routines twice a week, but I supp with 25mcg t3 and 1g of test and now coming on deca..

Whats ur stance on eating things like tv dinners, pre-made foods ect... High sodium stuff?

Based on the random cheaper price stuff from walmart brands macros:
Shake:
120 cals Olive oil
190 Almond Butter Spread
140 1 Cup Fair life Chocolate Milk
150 Greek Yog
150 Greek Yog
150-200 Whey Scoop
160 Quinoa Seeds (Very easy complex carb source, low fat, 6g protein per serv, low volume)

That alone is about 1,000 cals, not very thick to take in and could be even less thick if u remove the yog and add more milk, thats not even counting adding in eggs there.
