Ephedrine vs. pseudoephedrine

In australia, ephedrine is a prescription medicine and a prohibited import, thus the ECA combo isnt avaliable

Would the easily avaliable pseudoephedrine (as in Sudafed tablets) be a useful substitute?

Dymetadrin was a good product. I used to pay $12 for 100 but i couldn't handle it unless i was really going all out in the gym and didn't have anything to do after because it would make me way to jumpy. I get irritated if i take too much ephedrine and if i hear loud noises or loud people i get mad.
