So basically title says it all. I remember my first time brewing I used syringe filters. And that was the last time I used syringe filters.

I then proceeded to look into bottle top filtration and vacuum pump. After a little research I found it to be pretty easy. Thanks to @XKawN and the pics of his set up it made it a breeze.

The more comfortable I got with brewing I went from using glass media bottles with septa caps into sealed sterile vials to creating a contained environment and using open serum vials and a pipette dispenser and capping/crimping.

So I figured I'd make this thread to kind of give a visual to guys transitioning to a more complex set up than syringe filters.

Special thanks to @LordSamuilo for almost spoon feeding me for about a year or so. Thanks sensei. Lol.

So these are the pieces needed to control vacuum as to not tear a membrane in your filter.
-1 Brass Drain Cock



-2 Brass T-connectors
-2 Female Couplings



-4 "plugs" (you can get these in an air tool accessory kit)

-1 vacuum gauge

I’d love a specific parts list from the vacuum pump all the way to the media bottle. There are different options, I get that.

Everything except the vacuum gauge was purchased from harbor freight. Came out to about 25 bucks.

This is what it looks like with the pieces assembled. All pieces are 1/4"

You might want to place the gauge after the air bleed, that way you will see the same pressure that the filter will see.

Yeah thats how you want you valve and gauge supposing your pump is on the left and filter on the right . If you put the gauge behind the close off valve you wont know what the psi is in the vacuum filter once the valve is closed..

Mine is pump, gauge,vacuum adjusting valve, then filter. I was able to dial the gauge up or down by single digits. It is interchangeable though so once I go to use it I will see which set up works best. Nice job on the thread @eje1990

Just did another syringe filter run and I would rather much never do that again lol.
I could not find actual pics of what was needed not to fuck up with the vacuum route.
