Five Moldovan citizens were detained in St. Petersburg on 30 April for illicit trafficking with anabolic substances. Law enforcement officials identified about 300 kilograms of banned substances in the suspects' cars and houses. They were selling anabolic steroids through a site registered in Moldova.

Russian anti-drug services detected 40 kg of pills and injections in a Volkswagen Crafter and another 62.5kg in a Chevrolet Cruze.
At the same time, following the searches of a suspect's apartment, law enforcement officials found another 182.2 kg of hard drugs. The police also seized 15 kilograms of pills with a psychotropic effect and a laptop used for online trading.
Following the examination of the substances found, the authorities found that they contain anabolic steroids.
The suspects distributed the drugs in St. Petersburg and other regions of Russia through the post office service. The site where illegal substances could be ordered was registered in the Republic of Moldova.
The five members of the group had well-defined roles in the scheme, one received the orders, the other packed the goods, the third distributed them, and two people were responsible for transporting the substances across the border of Moldova and Russia.
