The reason it plays on some and not others, is the codec required (code/decode math routine to decompress the video) isn't on some machines.
There is a place, something like www.codec.com or whatever, where you can get most of them. Unfortunately there are like 50 or so, because everyone doing video has to avoid the copyright of every OTHER video player... it's all bullshit legal crap.
MS normally has a place to download codecs also.
