Food Production/Harvesting...

@gr8whitetrukker @OdieM
what are yall throwin out there in Tejas? Frogs, poppers, shit like that?
I had a lot of luck with black rooster tails too
I got everything and then some but time and time and time again Berkeley tubes usually in pumpkin seed or the dark olive green color bring in the payload. That or Mr twisters. Sanko's if I feel like being lazy. I'll cast and forget for a few minutes hoping for a big aggressive bass. But like I said cast and wait isn't really my style. Usually the longer the day goes and the more the sun bakesme makes me want to drink more beer. Which means sankos:D

You got a place on my vessel any time man

One day I will make it...that's a promise.
We might be old farts but we will get it in ;)
(mean crotchity old farts with down right sexy physiques)

Pretty good visibility there? For some reason I have this picture in my head of muddy low visibility and lots of neons and shit. Deep lake fishin

the thing I enjoy most is wading simply because you go to some of the most remote and scenic places. Plus you get to cover some ground but mostly it's just you and the elements. I almost always go walk it alone, it's my therapy session. I pull the biggest monsters outta tiny holes and shelves that look they aren't even deep enough, lotta catch and release those days...im in it for the experience
True man. The more your willing to walk away from the easy holes the bigger the reward. I also rarely eat what I catch. I like to preserve and have fun not take away.

I miss my old fishin buddy. Been friends for 20 some yrs. We've been to every damn lake and river back home I swear. We used to hit up the rivers in the winter when the weather was most hostile. Dress in carharts cuz no self respecting northerner would wear anything less. We used to walk miles from safety. Thru the wet terrain. The prehistoric caves and ravine's. Scale some 80 foot steep ass hills. We always said it wasnt fishin for us. It was an adventure. We'd get a hell of a workout in. And the reward was the experience. Always catch some monsters where nobody else would go

Where Im at and you know where that is ;) it's all man made lakes. To my knowledge there's only 1 natural lake here and that's near Tyler. Man made means shallow. I'm rarely in more than 50' of h20. I've got some 7 lakes within 20 miles of me and 2 of them are stops on the bass pro tour. Lots of options. Clear water, shallow. Plenty of stumps hidden and small channels near bridges and marinas.

Northern fishin is much different. The lakes up there are oceans. Between the obvious great Lakes like ontario which I'm intimately familiar with. You have the fingerlakes which are as old as dinosaurs and measure 600' deep and 100 miles long. That's deep lake fishin. Nothing in texas is like that. On a lake that big it's better to invest in down rigging equipment. My buddy did. He had a bigger boat than mine which made it more enjoyable. My sexy low to the water bass boat will have you fearing for your life on the open waters on ontario. He had 8 stations on his cruiser. All with 300'+ of thin cable wire. We would attach flashers and rig our bait and cast out. Set the rod in the holder and just troll along at 5 mph and drink beer and smoke all day. Wait 20 minutes and pull in the lines. See what you got. Deep lake fishin buddy. It's very expensive

I was thinkin more like some of the ones around here, anything is deep for me compared to waist high wading and farm ponds.

Welcome DD,
I'm trying to get into tying flys although it may be a project for next winter when I have more time. I've been doing some research on flies that imitate wooly warms, guys say they hit em well here, thanks for sharing. If you end up coming across any info/pics on some of the flies by all means post away, it's an area I'd really like to learn more about.

If u get into fly tying then look at a vise called "Thompson" they are excellent. I will dig up some info when I have a chance. Since you hunt you'll definitely save money on hackles and furs because they go for insane money depending on what it is.

Badass little spot you got there. I could picture myself drinking a few cold ones relaxing on that dock.
There's not a feeling like it. This spot has a lot of sentimental to it as well, so you can't beat the feeling. Some Jim straight outta the bottle. Some cold ones, and a pole in the water or the boat cruising the banks. Not a feeling like it.

You guys eat frogs?
Posted some pics in OGHs thread from the fish fry friday..
I've havent been giggn in a long time tho. Something we used to do on a saturday night when we were liquored up and the ladyfolk wanted to prove how cool they was
Usually turned into skinny dippin sessions, and then developed into missing persons cases and/or near death experiences.

fuck me running, I feel like a bag of smashed assholes this AM.
Sat on the pile late Saturday after the Heels game till about 400, with the crossbow. I woke up after being out there below freezing with 30mph gusts, a lil achy. I was wiggling my toes while I waited him out, just about everything else was locked up. Girl was getting on me about some honey-do stuff. Pulled about 2 dozen railroad ties up, didn't train yesterday so I thought I'd make it a lil friendly competition between me, myself, and God. Rolled them all free in a line and backed the tailgate up as I flipped them end over end for time. I won (I think) but got nothing to show for it but some achy ass joints and a freshly bent tailgate on the Ford.

Go listen to Chris Stapleton...
make country music great again.

Country music will never be great again. The pop culture has taken over. Pop ruins everything. Radio friendly bands like FL/GA line and others with a similar sound have ruined it irreparably. Taylor Swift and her moonlighting gig as a top 40 singer is a joke. Old timers like McGraw makes gay mindless song after gay mindless song. The old vets like George Strait have hung it up. The true country singers like J. Johnson don't get the big push by exec's for their off the wall appearance and inability to compromise. Chris stapleton was singing a duet with Justin Timberlake...wtf...that's how you know it's a joke

That duet with Justin timber lake is one of the best damn performances I've seen.. Chris is a great singer..

If I was serious about my craft Timberlake wouldn't be standing next to me on any stage.

Does Slayer do a duet with Brett Michaels?
Does Hank Williams do a duet with Lady gaga?
Does ACDC do a duet with lil wayne?

It's further proof that country music doesn't exist if Timberlake is hanging around. A dude that used to wear makeup and sing baby baby and dance to synchronized keyboard noise for 14 yr old girls. Joke

Shit, good thing I'm not the only one going apeshit on Saturday. Took a ruck, packed some gear planned it out so I would go 40 miles but couldn't touch pavement and highway. Holy motherfuckin shit the things that I had to go through, inclines, ditches, creeks, slopes, thorns and everything else in between. Rained all morning then the sun finally decided to show up. Finally made it out towards Cabarrus County, called it in and got an x-fill.
Toes numb, calcaneus, tarsals, talus, joint, tib, fib, all majorly screaming at me with the quads on fire. But point was proven, to myself I think. That shits doable, that you gotta keep pushin. Finished it off going to Lake Wylie yesterday having restless issues couldn't sit still, so just enjoyed the sun with some meat on the grill while listening to a woman that wants me to slow down, but I gotta stay on my freq.
Moral of all this rant, hope I didn't go off topic, or steal the thread TEK.
.... Smooth as Tennessee Whiskey.

nah man Country music has some good talent comin in now, there are artists that can make a living today without compromising. I like Miranda. I like this lil movement reminiscent of them Texas boys of yesterday. Jamey Johnson, Chris Stapleton are good people. Id buy em a miller lite. Next month Im gonna catch Stapleton and two nights later....Merle and Willie at the casino

the fuck you talkin bout anyway...no boot wearin mf'ers like yo ass are the reason luke bryan thinks he can go and gyrate his hips in skinny jeans and backwards flat bills and make songs about Georgia peaches. I bet that lifted truck of yours only spins two wheels :p
