For those filtering oils - who's using sterile filters, and who's not?

Quick question: I've got a bunch of gear arriving this week, so I bought all of the filtering equipment. But I'm concerned about filtering everything at once, and want to refrain from freezing and thawing the gear if possible... I'm thinking that in the process of filtering, oxidation can occur, so the transferred vial of gear will probably not maintain as long as the unfiltered gear when they arrive (and I'm hesitant to freeze all my gear)... in that case, does it just make sense to do "Just in Time" filtering, where you filter just the gear that you plan to use in your next cycle? Or does filtered gear with some oxidation still keep for a pretty long time (e.g. a year or two), in which case I can filter a bunch of vials at once without freezing/thawing?

Appreciate all the insights here. Thanks.
You’re overthinking it. Don’t freeze anything. Filter as needed or filter and buy the seal tops the bacon guy recommended to me in other post. Seals the top of the stopper after piercing

Sorry, do you mind posting the Seal Tops?
I searched this thread and the whole forum for seal, bacon, seal tops, etc. lol
Couldn't locate it

Found this from another person tho

You can use this as an estimate and multiple by 4 for fridge storage, i dont think there's a need to freeze. that being said, most of my oils i put in the freezer don't freeze anyways.

it's not going to oxidise even if you leave it out for hours. how many times do you open that cap on that bottle of cooking oil?

@crispybacon!

Are these better quality than the ones on MedLab or just a better deal?

Good point
I took a look at the specs on the page, it's usp 800 rated meaning it can handle hazardous compounds (i mean it's for chemo) whereas the MLS one arent. Id say better quality, but for our purposes Its probably not relevant.

The MLS ones are probably more user friendly tho.

mmm - can you buy the 20mm size and use on both 10ml and 3ml vials?
Obviously would be too big for the 3ml vials, but if it's adhesive all the way across it shouldn't matter?

Yea but most 3ml vials are vacuumed sealed, I'm not sure why you'd need them. It's only needed once you poke a hole in it. (The hole never actually closes up)

Yeah, I couldn't think of a reason either, but figured may as well be able to use them on more than 1 size.
Peps don't last long enough to matter, and I put them in cartridges anyway.

Thanks

I still think the ChemoPlus ones are a good deal if you’re stockpiling, but for my use cases (transferring from vials with shitty stoppers, resealing vials I’ve pulled test samples from) the MLS quantity makes more sense.

Yup, that's what I'm saying... either do "just in time" when you need it (INSTEAD of freezing, which I don't want to do), or make a bunch and store it, as oxidation won't be that severe (and as Photon mentions, it stores 4x longer if you refrigerate). I want to just filter 3-5 cycles worth of gear without worrying about storage... sounds like I should be okay, esp if I refrigerate.

I don’t understand really why refrigerate it unless you live in a hot box but that’s just me. My house stays cool.

How would you even know if your oils are rancid or oxidized? And what would be the consequences of injecting them?
I have a few years worth of oils.
