Forum shows conflicting results: Hydrophillic or Hydrophobic filter?

I've been looking through the forum, and have seen conflicting reports with some people claiming hydrophillic is the best for filtering oils, and others claiming hydrophobic, with each side arguing with the other. I've been using hydrophillic for reference (as it seemed to be standard). Here's some of the threads I've looked at so far relating to this question:

What's your opinion?

This is an opinion brother, but it's also a fact. Although I normally don't say stuff like this on this forum because people like to argue. However I can tell you for certain, there is no doubt about it, that hydrophobic PVDF, or PTFE membranes will work best for filtration. You can use a hydrophilic Nylon or hydrophillic PVDF, but you will be like other guys who complain about filtering 100ml and 45 minutes.

Wrong syringe filters?

I just answered this in another thread. It’s very simple. Hydrophobic for oil-based, hydrophilic for water-based solutions.
