Fucking Surgery Recovery

I am having 6 surgeries on my back to fix a multitude of fucking problems, from herniated discs to fractures to fucked over facet joints. 3 in my neck and 3 in my lumbar. The first three in my neck are done - painful but not horrible - immediately fixed a LOT of issues. The next 3 start on Monday.

Post OP, I am not supposed to touch the iron at all for 6 weeks. Bodyweight exercises I can start after 4 weeks. Can't get back to heavy lifting until mid-November.'

I have to say I fucking HATE waiting. The gym is my church, my sanctuary. Being away from it drives me up the goddamn wall. You guys experience Post Surgical frustration from having to wait? Tell me your story.

Experiencing it right now man. Lumbar spinal surgery. I'm about 8 weeks post. Wasn't able to really lift much for a couple months prior also. I've lost around 20lbs so far. I am able to do light upper body but still hindered a great deal. It seems to be getting better by the day, slowly but surely. It's messed with my head more than anything. Try not to let it get you down. You'll be back sooner than you think. Don't rush it.

What did you have done? I had foramenotomy, laminectomy, discectomy at C5/C6, C6/C7, and C7/T1

Monday I will have the same three and possibly more done on L3/L4, L4/L5 and L5/S1 (I don't have a 6th vertebrae like some do). It's all minimally invasive, endoscopic laser surgery in incisions that are only 1.5 inches long. I am awake during 80% of the procedure, guiding the doc to what hurts until he's cleaned up enough of the space to allow the nerves to be free and uncompressed.

But being away from my temple is really fucking with me. I'm writing down all these programs and diets and drug regiments I will do once I can finally get back in the gym, but I HAVE to take it slow or I could herniate the discs again. I'm writing out a long slow progression program to hopefully reinforce the "take it easy" approach. Dunno why, but if it's on paper, I adhere to it strictly.

Hope things start to get better for you bro - nothing sucks worse than being injured and out of the Gym.
