Gained weight way too fast on bulk. Switch to recomp?

Came off a successful cut, under ~15% BF. Plan was maintenance for a bit, then a slow, controlled bulk.

What actually happened:

Upped test, added primo, raised NPP.

350 test / 200 primo / 150 NPP.

Calories went from ~2000/day to probably close to 4000. Stopped tracking a few weeks in because strength and scale weight were flying up and I wasn’t seeing much visible fat gain… until recently.

Now I’m up 17 lbs in about 6 weeks. Literally back to the exact weight I started my last cut at, 175 → 192. I feel uncomfortable. I’ve been stuffing my face even when I’m not hungry. BP slightly up but nothing alarming. Still, I really don’t like the direction this is heading.

Bloods came back with E2 at 21, so that also tells me primo is probably too high relative to test. Either need to lower primo or raise test.

Considering a few options:
  1. Pull calories back to true maintenance for a couple weeks and let things settle
  2. Drop NPP and see how much water and bloat comes off
  3. Adjust test/primo ratio to get E2 up a bit

I had planned to reach ~200 lbs over something like 16–20 weeks, not blast back to my old weight in a month and a half.

Looking for guidance from people who’ve overshot a bulk like this. Feeling a little dumb for letting it get away from me, but trying to course-correct before it turns into a sloppy mess.

I did the same thing. Take advantage of being full and fat and get your lifts up. Like focus on your compounds getting up. Either for reps or for 3 sets of 5.

Then come off as planned and diet down. I got absolutely ravenous on Mirtazapine, HGH and high dose testosterone.

Happens to everyone. You'll be right. Atleast use the body mass to build some decent strength.

I think this is probably pretty normal and a lot of people do it. I did it recently, in fact. Had decent abs going into summer, got sick of starving all the time, started eating a lot and looking swole while maintaining definition thinking everything was sweet... woke up in October one day soft and puffy and wearing a size larger to try and hide it. It creeps up on you. Very easy to get carried away.

In my case, I've got to keep body fat low for health reasons, so I've just focused on dropping the flab. I am primarily extending my intermittent fasting from 18/6 everyday to 20/4. Obviously, my scenario is a little different than yours. Dropping the NPP will surely help you drop some water weight, but I think if we're all honest here, you most likely overshot the mark and just need to bite the bullet and get back in a deficit.

Cut your kcals intake with 1000kcals, do not increase with 2000kcals in bulk. Increase just 200-250. And see in the mirror what is does to you, and increase when your weight not increase. Weigh yourself every day naked by getting out of your bed. Lean gain about 200gr a week and do a mini-cut for six weeks when you get to fat.
