general rant about non-resourcefulness

Ok, maybe this is just me getting old, but why aren't people more resourceful these days? I own a couple of businesses--a tattoo shop and a smoking accessory/body piercing shop. I'm usually in the smoke shop more--just tattoo by appt these days. Anyhoo...people call and ask the most INANE questions! I want to be a smart ass and say "Do you know what Google is? USE IT!!" I mean for real--people carry around all of the knowledge of all of mankind's existence in their pockets these days and they don't access this amazing wealth of information before asking questions? F*ck! Back in my day it was either word of mouth, or a trip to the library at best! I think this is an amazing time to live, and the access to knowledge is super awesome (or super terrible, depending on how you look at it). Hell, I learned how to fix my washing machine via youtube! Amazing!

YouTube is amazing. So many things I thought were beyond my repair abilities, then a quick google search for a youtube video, and I saved myself a bit of money.

Only exception seems to be iphone/samsung galaxy phone repair. F that stuff. Ruined a couple phones that way.

I really think the internet, devices and instant gratification has fucked up these younger generations. Like seriously handicapped them on life skills. It's like they don't even realize the wealth of information they have at their fingertips. I don't get it, but it's not good.

haha. you said library. remember the Dewey decimal system cards?? do they still have that or is it digital? has to be on a computer by this point, right? i haven't been in sooooo long.

I haven't set foot in a library in years! I do remember the Dewey decimal system tho. for two summers when I was in Jr. high I toiled in the university library compiling data for my dad's books (bibliographies of articles written on African politics for certain years). Then I learned to key punch the data onto cards and run them in a card sorting machine so he could make printouts of the information . this is back when computers took up whole rooms. Showing my age!! lol!

I see people on my facebook asking shit all the time...like "whats the best model bluray player?" "Whats a good salon in town" i always just copy and paste a link to google in the comments. People are retarded.

I agree that people are way too lazy and way too used to get getting everything handed to them but shit like that I kind of get.

Internet reviews are largely written by complete retards or they got some sort of benefit for writing it. Certain things I'd rather go by word of mouth.

Yelp for instance only posts negative reviews on a company unless they pay yelp for "advertising"
