Good Books (fantasy sci fi)

This audiobook sounds great

Seriously just listen to this clip

the narrators voice, the production etc

I havent ever heard an audiobook done like this before

Imo a narrator can make or break a audio book the guy who does the Sandman slim audio sounds like how I would imagine what stark would sound like I'm a picky bitch thou

Positives there was an excellent narrator for the Game of Thrones audiobooks. There are 2 versions tho 2 different narrators.

Stefan Rudnicki is excellent narrator.

Several others are good and can definitely make or break your perception of the book.

Didnt expect to see some fellow nerds here lol

It's been a while since I cracked open a fantasy novel.. but my favs are

Sword of truth (The first 3.. after that.. went downhill fast.. they don't exist after Temple of Winds in my opinion)
And
The Elenium by David Eddings (The first 3... the second part of the series was just a shitty repeat of the first 3 and trying to cash in on his series)

This thread is right up my alley. I'll have some to add here shortly, but in the mean time (I know it isn't fantasy but it is sci-fi and a damn good space opera) but The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey has me sucked in right now. I'm on book 5? I think and I can't put them down.

Fuck I love me some space.

Yes the expanse was excellent. The show was not too bad either. I believe amazon picked it up.and there will be a new season.

Nerdy shit is cool now. I was just always ahead of the curve.

Books are fucking awesome and a great way to exercise our imagination. I think our community here is actually pretty diverse. I believe most of us here are actually quite good at research and reading comprehension. We are resourceful and inquisitive. There are probably more avid readers here than in an equal segment of the general population.

That's a good point.

Yeah, I guess I was always ahead of my time too lol.

Some of these books I've read a million times, the pages are just crushed.

Another one

The chronicles of Thomas covenant the unbeliever
By: Stephen R Donaldson

pretty good read, a little stereotypical, but he does a good job of world building

Not fantasy but somewhat sci fi at times - the Agent Pendergast Series of novels by Lincoln/Child are excellent. They're kind of a cross between the X files and Sherlock Holmes.

I've been trying to find a cool alien novel but haven't found any that peak my interest.

This is one of the first books I remember reading. I think it was because it was a very adult book and I couldn't have been older than second or third grade because of where I lived when I read it. I think it stuck with me because it was such an intense book for a kid. I read The Stand by Stephen King not long after that, which was also a pretty adult book for a little kid. I've been a huge fan of fantasy, scifi, and horror sinceI was very young though.

Where do I start? As others have mentioned, you can’t go wrong with Brandon Sanderson. Also, just to name a few, the iron Druid, bobiverse and hell diver series are great!!!

I’m an audible listener and thoroughly enjoy a good sci-fi

Armor is fucking excellent. Just discovered it about a year ago.

Ok.this is gonna be a bit of a shot in the dark...

Does anyone know the name of this book?

In the book people.figure out how to teleport. Not with machines or anything they just figure it out. It is referred to as jaunting.
The main character has some find of facial deformity or scar that turns red when he gets angry. I think.he escapes from a prison or something near the beginning and comes into a large sum.of money.

I know it's a longshot. I remembered it being a great read but cant remember much about it besides those little bits. Looking to.read it again or get it on audio.

I read Dune by Frank Herbert once a year for like a decade. Probably my all.time favorite sci fi. It is a little dense in the beginning however.

The main character takes badass space drugs, becomes a living god, crushes his enemies, and seizes power over the known universe.

Im still trying to figure out how to accomplish this on a personal level.

Dune was awesome, too. Have meant to read the other books for years and never have.

Stranger in a Strange Land is a pretty cool, older book, too. Robert Heinlein, the author of Starship Troopers wrote it.

I read a couple Isaac Asimov books that were pretty cool, can't remember which ones. I wanna say it was Foundation was one of them. There were times in my life I was really tearing through books, like 3-5 a week sometimes, and I lose track of some of what I've read.
