how do you guys train grip?? my grip is failing on my RDL 365x6 on my last rep under/overhand inverted no straps. this must change

I don't train grip for the sake of it. My forearms get plenty of work during back workouts where rowing exercises are plentiful. You should see em. Grrrrrrrrr

Chalk works great for this purpose imo.

I haven't tried using chalk for RDL's as I've always used straps for that lift but it would definitely help you out if you are losing grip. I use it for front squatting using rack position and for vertical pulls like chin ups and pull ups.

Just deadlifts and shrugs have given me all the grip strength i need for the weights I can use in any lift. I've never used straps either so I'm sure that's a factor.

nice ill get some chalk for the next time i do RDLs..i try not to use straps either but it pisses me off when my grip is whats failing and that muscle group isnt

Another thing I do for grip is to take some dumbbells and stand them up on one side. Use the tips of your fingers to grip them around the round or hexagonal side. Walk with them like you would for normal farmers walk

I agree with the above but this is something i friend does

Tie a small weight to 48" of string.
Cut off 1' of mop handle
tie other end to the middle of the remains of the mop handle
extend arms and twist the stick until you have rolled the weight all the way up

We did this is a program here in the bay area. There was a state of the art gym there and we did a fucking manic circut training style. Full bogy, massive pace, 1.25 hrs full complete body, murdering pace. At the end we did the sled forward down the full end of the warehouse and reversed back, I puked the first time. Anyways, we did this for forearms amd it was the first time I'd seen it. Didn't last long there, the younsters and dropouts liked to lie and get people bench time. I sat on that fucker for 3 days and when I realized the owner, house bitches were going to keep me there indefinitely I bounced. They took me to the bart and I came back up to my county. Any takees on this place, pm me and we can see if yku were there too.

My gym has this rollup gadget that has a small hook to hold a plate. I do a few sets of rollups as part of warmups

Echoing farmer's walk, best exercise for grip/forearms. Also chalk as above. Hook grip (thumb under fingers not like usual other way around) also works, it's an advanced technique holding a few risks but it for sure neglects grip weakness, as in if you just have to improve your rdl asap but it's a bit offtopic here.
