Sup Bros,
I almost completely lost it tonight!

This little skinny guy who works at my gym came up to me when I was in the middle of my power cleans tonight; and told me that I needed to quiet down. He said two women complained that I was grunting too loud and being distracting. Me and my buddy laughed thinking it was a joke[:o)]. then he told us he was serious. I told him to "F*ck Off, we are in a F*cking gym!" He asked me to leave and not return. I demanded a manager, and asked if they have a 'no grunting' policy posted. When the owner came out he just laughed at his dumb ass employee. He apologized to me for interrupting my workout, and let me get back to it.

Just thought I would share.
Some people are so stupid

mrbig that if fuckin hilarios...first come the old ladys probably liked it...you were probably scarring the shit out of the boy...hahaha thats great

I have been to several gyms like that. At one, I was wasnt even grunting, just breathing very hard and straining and I was told to keep it down, and then when I was doing db presses, I was using 150's, he tried to tell me not to drop them or I would have to leave. I told him to keep his ass around and pick them up off of me then. He walked off.
But the worst, was a gym that was advertising as being a "hardcore" gym, but they actually had a damn GRUNT ALARM. If you grunted at ALL, or even talked too loudly, an alarm would go off and then a voice would ask you to politely keep it down. I walked out of that place asap.

Yeah, the Gold's I used to go to had the no dropping the dumbells rule and no grunting but when you have the big weight on you I'm not going to hurt myself by not dropping them! Worst part was they had the rubber coated weights so when you did drop em, they went pretty far, LOL

Lol ! Same thing happened to me ! I was a member of a club here for about 5 years when they changed managers they started coming down on a lot of the bigger guys ,grunting , slamming weights, spotting to loud ,etc
I was doing chest with a pair of 160's (actual weight 157 /156) , first off I own them I have carried these things from gym to gym over the years, second I bring over ab pads to put under them when I set them down.I was in the middle of my set and the manager came over and asked me to stop for a second so i am already frustrated being stopped mid set.
Then he proceeds to tell me I am being to loud and I intimidate the other members!I asked him how ? He said when I was doing flat bench with heavy weight and would rack the weight it would startle people. He said I always looked angry.
I had been a personal trainer for several years and at one point had trained the previous owner and manager for two years.
I picked up my dumbbells walked them to my truck came back grabbed my Texas power bar , he asked what I was doing taking things , I told him to pull my file, it should state I own these items and while he was at it cancel my membership ,he told me don't worry about it your banned I laughed and walked out.
Luckily for me a person I knew had just purchased the only other gym in town at the time and had been asking me to switch hell he even gave me three free years membership for myself and my family!

Thats a nice little deal Jugg. What the hell is wrong with people. They go to the gym and dont like people working out hardcore. Stay at home on your damn treadmill then!

recently switched from a traditional gym (Gold's, Lifetime Fitnss, etc.) to a crossfit gym. The routines very often involve olympic moves. Grunts, screams, puke, etc is all ok. People here stand around and cheer others on when they are not doing the routine. Intensity is expected.

I've been driving about 15 extra miles 4 days a week just to go to a small gym where there is hardly anyone in there ever. 2 Treadmills, 1 Elliptical, 2 Bikes and a bunch of weights. There is a stereo you can plug your ipod into and blare whatever you want and no one is gonna bitch if you're screaming while lifting. The extra gas is made up by the fact the gym is only $20 a month. I love it. Only complaint I've had is the owner did bring in 3 miniature pincers the other day. It was a cardio day thank goodness or I'm pretty sure those dogs would have been smashed with a 45lb plate. Yippy little bastards.

Can't stand all the spraying downof the equipment after each person is done . Are we in a gym or a fuckin hospital ? [:o)]

yea same with my gym. i been told by another client if i could stop slammin the weights. i wasnt even slammin them. he went and told the manager and a trainer. im cool with them so we just laughed it off. i want to open a personal training gym in the future and i dont give a shit what anyone does there. scream all you want, cause i know i do. lol.

Bro, I know EXACTLY what you mean! I train a few cute little girls and everyone of them grunts on leg press or other straining exercises and it is the hotest thing ever. Why is it that when guys grunt, its like we are taking a shit and when they do it, its the sexiest thing you have ever heard?

On a side note, at my gym, we have this guy come in all the time and EVERYONE knows him. He is fat, out of shape, wears his tank tops every day and grunts on everything he does. Even just picking up the weights. And the sad thing, is he uses like 40lbs dbs on bench. So the other day, I was so sick of hearing this guy, I followed him around and EVERYTHING he did, I got half the weight and grunted twice as loud as he did through his whole routine. After about 15 minutes, he just sat there and looked at me and finally quit. Everyone inclding the people that work there were just cracking up about it

To loud is obnoxious, but I joined some gym that had a "lunk" alarm. If anyone grunted or dropped weights a frickin blue light with siren would be tripped by person behind the desk! All over the wall there are signs that say "lunks" not welcome and there definition (which is also on wall) is anyone who drops weights, grunts, Judges people, or wears skull caps or dew rags. It was only ten bucks a month so a put up with it for a while but finally bailed when i got a better job. I use to have a blast dropping weights on purpose just to set off alarm lol

[:o)]LMFAO[:o)] Just found this thread. I'm glad I don't go to these gyms. Grunting is encouraged where I work.!!! [:o)]

We must have started a trend of grunting around the entire nation.
In the past two months I have seen 2 articles about it in my magazines. One article in maxim talks about leaving the grunting for the guys puttin up more than 400. And then Muscle and fitness tried to pull some bullshit saying grunting doesnt help your lifts so dont do it. F#@K 'Em
