I love a Fal or an HK PTR-91. Still love a nice quality AR though. Those carbon ARs you're talking about are garbage lol. But I'm really an AK if we're talking favorites.

Me too bro. Did a 922r conversion on saiga 308. Stock/ handguard / magazine. 308 ak. Bad mama jama!
A lot of guys that of been in country will actually tell you that they'd rather carry an ak than a m4.

I was screwing in the buffer tube on the carbon fiber and the fucking upper reciever cracked. Garbage. Cool looking is all the are.

One of my all time favorite rifles right here. Arsenal Bulgarian SLR100. Milled receiver. Pretty rare. The Cadillac of AK-47s.

Thank you sir. I have quite a few other nice pieces but I'd rather not post them.

What do you think about the N Paps? I looked at one today at Cabelas. Pretty tight looking AK... But they're a little high on the price at $749

I need a gun safe. it will end up holding at least a few shotguns/rifles and some assorted handguns. I have a local store that can accommodate but wanted to hear Meso suggestions. Does anyone have a prefered online location? just local merchants like I have? thanks guys.

got a carry weapon for the wife today. her first, it's a Christmas gift.

Those are great cc weapons. I've owned many Rugers and they have always been reliable. I bought my chick the 380 lcp. She likes to go hiking with her friend off the beaten path and can't fit much self defense into some yoga pants and a beer holder.
She since has taken advantage of my drunken kindness while on a midnight walk while camping. I had her take my newly aquire Glock 19 as I was taking my 45. She fell in love with it and I said "you can just have it".

I really dig the Ruger. the trigger is nice for right out of the box.

lol, I just got a glock 19 today. I have to get it in two parts where I'm from but I got it non the less. It's going to be from Santa to the wife (ignore this post hot stuff!).

Not nearly as fun as gun shopping, but still very important!

Although I won't provide a direct source, I can tell you that most people do not purchase an adequate safe.

With a safe, you will get what you pay for... You are purchasing a DETERRENT and NOT some unstoppable force. ALL safes are breakable. The only variable is TIME and DIFFICULTY.

How many hours of being in a house fire do you want it to resist?

How much time are you looking to deter a criminal by?

Make NO mistake... ALL safes are breakable by criminals. A safe is a measurement of how much TIME and WORK you are adding to a criminal to get to your belongings. A good safe will add unwanted HOURS to a criminal's work.

Much like choosing insurance coverage, your needs will depend on the value of the items and the level of security you are choosing to purchase.

Don't buy an expensive safe and NOT bolt it down either! I guarantee you a criminal will simply pick it up with their friends, load it in their truck, take it home and toss that thing outside a 2nd floor window and it's opening easily.

With this in mind, you should be able to have a salesman tell you the fire rating of the safe and how thick the steel is and also what kind of hinge system it has. If the salesman looks clueless to these questions, keep shopping elsewhere.

I would not trust ANY safe for under 2 GRAND!

Check this video out. A $1,000 safe broken into in 1 minute and 40 seconds!

Does your "local shop" sell something similar??? Most adequate safes will require you to make a trip to purchase or have it delivered.

Anyone have experience with a keltec sub 2000 ? I like the idea of a carbine that'll take glock mags. Wondering about reliability.

you hit a few good points. I hadn't even thought about fire rating tbh.

The bulk of my concern is kids. theft is an issue if it happens but that has been second to the children. I have trigger locks now so it's not like they are just sitting around ready to fire, lol.

I don't mind spending some money on a quality safe if it's worth it.

let me ask you this. I am in the beginning stages of getting an addition with a full basement. do you think it's worth getting something that can be built into a foundation?

thanks for the time man. I'm putting some time into the subject this week and will have a desicion soon. just don't want anything bad to happen, would love them locked up.

Keltec has NEVER been known for reliability. Just their innovative designs.

I would bring their weapons to the range but would never have one for personal defense.

And pistol ammunition out of a carbine?? That's just plain silly. You will NEVER see the military or police do that and for GOOD REASONS!

Thanks for the input. I don't agree on the silly part simply because it's intent isn't for a battle rifle. It's more for a pack rifle and the fact I can use all the same mags from my 17 would be an added bonus.

Honestly, I'm not sure. See if the cost is worth it. It doesn't need to be fancy. Just DIFFICULT to remove.

The idea is that you want is something you can BOLT the safe onto and not be able to pry off with less than 5 men would be a good starting point.

By not being able to remove the safe from its location you limit the criminals time to work. If they can remove your safe and load it in their truck, they can work on it for the next decade! Or they can then call and hire a locksmith to open it the next day for a mere $200 at their own home.

Use your best judgement.
