Hair Loss

Primo made my hair thin, it also tanked my e2.

I switched to Mast E a month after stopping Primo (to let it out of my system), and no shedding at all, if anything had a bit more density come back. Currently on 700mg of Mast E for the last 10 weeks and no hairloss, very stable for me.
Damn...that's awesome

Seems a little quick to see noticeable differences in hair density but I'm pro-hair preservation so rock on.

Some of you bros dont care about hair loss, but it can be a big concern for most of us other bros. I'm 35 and I still have a thick and full head of hair. I am not one of those guys who would look good bald or balding. In some of my cycles years ago, I noticed large volumes of hair falling out in the shower during a cycle. This brought me to the point where I would look in the mirror and say, "What good is there in having huge muscles if my hair looks like crap?" So my search began to find the best possible hair solution, which involves stopping hair loss and even reversing it!

Let me just show you the final results (IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE), and I will comment on each:

  1. AVODART® (Dutasteride) - Dutasteride was developed to help shrink the prostate and was found to have an even more profound effect on regrowing hair than Finasteride! Not only that, it can take care of more of your DHT, it starts working faster, and stays in your system for much longer. 1 to 5 mg ED is all you need, and it also keeps that prostate down during your cycles. In my book, this is a win/win situation.
  2. PROPECIA® (Finasteride) - Next to Viagra, this drug may have had one of the all time record advertising budgets. Finasteride is a hair loss prevention / regrowth drug. Recommended dose is 1 mg ED and after 6 to 12 months the user may achieve positive results. The reason I write "big 4" in the title of this thread is that it may not be necessary to use both Dutasteride and Finasteride, although there are no known drug interactions. I say roll with Dutasteride if you can and if not then use Finasteride.
  3. ROGAINE® (Minoxidil) - Cheap to buy generic at target in three month supply, Minoxidil blocks DHT on the scalp. After handling DHT within the body via Dutasteride or Finasteride, you can also stop the damage of DHT on the scalp. Use twice a day. I use it after my morning shower and after my workout shower.
  4. NIOXIN® (Cleanser, Conditioner, and Treatment) - Use these Nioxin products as your daily shampoo and conditioner. They work on the scalp to ensure that your skin is healthy. Shampoo removes impurities that clog follicles, including DHT. The conditioner keeps the scalp moisturized. The treatment adds botanicals and nutrients to the scalp skin.
  5. NIZORAL® (A-D Shampoo) - Ketoconazole, the main ingredient in Nizoral, acts as a relatively mild anti-androgen. (Androgen binds to hair follicles and over time shrinks them down, causing thinner and thinner hair.) Use this shampoo once a week for help with DHT.

This hair regiment is not difficult to maintain, and can provide great results. I went from losing my hair to growing it back! It takes a few months to start working, so for the first 6 months have patience. Passing the 1 to 2 year markers using the "Big 4" regiment should yield significant hair gains, or at the very least put an end to your loss.

This article assumes appropriate nutrition, hydration, and sleep.

I study this subject a fair bit and unless I am incorrect there’s a few things my research has shown and please correct me with the studies if not.

1. Dutasteride is the nuclear option having a half life of 5 weeks opposed to Finasteride half life of 5-6hrs. I would not advise taking Dut over Fin as a first ever.

2. The studies on Dut are not 1mg other than prostate but for hair it’s 0.5mg daily.

3. Dut blocks the 2 aspects of 5AR, Fin blocks only 1. Again, safety recommends trialling the lesser drug first to see if that’s enough imho.

4. Minoxidil is NOT a DHT blocker. It was a blood pressure medication and allows good blood flow to the scalp which causes the hair to receive nutrition, oxygen etc and strengthen the hair and follicle.

5. Dut, Fin and Min can bring on a ‘dread shed’ as they cause the follicle to push out the thin hair to regrow another so be aware it can get worse on the recommended dosages before it gets better and given the time length it takes to regrow hair it can be a 1.5year event ‘if’ they are working for you.

6. Topical Fin and Min can lesson the systemic 5AR inhibition so being that less is better, 5AR and DHT are awesome and we need them, you might want to use that first over ‘oral’.

7. I would trial one thing first, like Fin topical as we all know that we can fly blind not knowing what’s doing what when we add more than one thing in in trials.

8. Regarding Nizoral shampoo, it’s the Ketocanozole 2% (not less than 2%) which the study to block DHT. I use this twice weekly leaving sit on the scalp for 5min or more. It can dry your scalp out but is also good against acne.

I’m 50yo and have no history of MPB, but many men begin thinning at 50yo anyway. As I started taking up the test only mildly past 250mg weekly I had diffuse thinning pretty bad. I experimented with 0.25mg of oral Fin EOD for 2 weeks then ED for another 2 weeks, then 0.5mg Fin EOD and went back to 0.25mg daily but I would highly recommend you feel it out specifically looking for a lessening in sexual desire as well as any dull aches in your gonads which I had both even at that low dosage. When that occurs I stop taking it and then go back on when clear. I have had significant success over 3 months of doing this and thicker hair and no more shedding. Obviously as I take up the gear I’ll need to readjust dosages and protocol to suit:

I want to keep my DHT in check, not nuke it personally. Less pharma to achieve the results is safety imho.

I hope that helps and please correct me where I’m wrong if so, I’m always learning and hate to say anything that isn’t correct, great post btw and very necessary for those of us which want to keep our hair.

Okay. That firsst post is 15 years old. Billydidit, do you still have your hair?

This first post is over 15 years old. Billydidit, do you still have your hair? We'd love an update

Bill died three years ago from cardiovascular disease. No report from the funeral director on the state of his hairline at that point.

How's your blood pressure?

My urologist was happy to write me propecia finasteride when I asked for oral minoxidal he balked he didn’t know what it was and wouldn’t write it.

Yeah it's crazy, 5 mins to get a telemedicine prescription for it for hair loss (in the us anyway). I hear it's really hard to get from docs in the EU.

I’m gonna try that out is it better with Costco or GoodRx I also see that company Ro is offering 1 month supply for $15 costs really with telemedicine appointment I was using them before for cialis they are outrageously priced.

If you have insurance, unlike Cialis, they don't care what oral Minox is prescribed for, so a telemedicine prescription for 3 months worth will be whatever the lowest deductible is ($10 for most people).

Even if you have to pay cash, with goodRx 180 2.5mg tabs is $20.

(always ask for 5mg day "I read 5mg a day is best for hair regrowth". You can always just take 2.5, because there aren't 5mg tabs in the US anyway, they'll double up the 2.5mg, hence 180 x 2.5mg for 90 day prescrip.)

You are a gentleman and a scholar wise beyond your years.

Have you heard about jenny RU58841?,
im in a hairloss Discord,
a bunch of groupbuys have already been made with hrt, and even now, people order it from there.guys here says the RU is good I've never ordered anything from her, but I've already spoken to her about the RU and the prices seem good to me, and if the order is seize by customs, says she'll send it back.
I think she also arranges many other things, because she works for a laboratory, so she must arrange Pyri. I'll see if they can find me the website, anyway I have her WhatsApp contact.
I m USING RU , i use ACTIFOLIC pyri powder, for 6 months, but didn´t do much about regrowth ..so i change to RU is most cheaper and i think its the same as pyri, helps to maintain hair , or slow the hair loss

for now im buying my RU powder from here Best RU58841 Prices with Purity Guaranteed | RUdirect

the can send inside europe, and i think they have pyri
I know this post is old, but do you have a somewhat trustworthy Pyrilutamide source?

Sure thing.
Bought my Pyr from the original source/producer itself which sells it as a spray on koshinemall.com. That is the cosmetic website of the research company that researched the peptide.
They that they offer a 15% discount on the 26th of every month.
I must say though, the research company's latest results on the product were dissappointing.

That was a very weird reply. AI?

but what results are you talking about?

Hehe, not AI, just me explaining it in a weird way, I guess.

Google a bit, and you'll find it. The initial trial showed great results, but in the latest trial (end of 2024, I believe), there was no significant difference compared to the placebo group. Yet, I've read people sharing their experiences with Pyr...some report great results, and others none.

So I don't know whether it works or not. If it does, could it be person-dependent, like we see with Minoxidil, where some people don't have (enough of) the enzyme needed, which leads to it being more effective for some than other?

I bought the KX826 anyway to try it out—on week 3 or so now. Nothing to report yet though.
