Any home gym owners here ? I had a gym membership for years and used to work on the road alot using commerical gyms. Now that I'm home everyday I've been building my home gym which is far more practical for me and the wife. Anyway enough talk here's some pics. If anyone's interested I can list what I have. 20170520_220216.jpg 20170520_220240.jpg 20170520_220301.jpg

I love my home gym. I work 60-80 hours a week on average and, as much as I loved going to a proper gym, I'd just never find the time with my current work schedule. It's great being able to come home after busting my ass all day, bust my ass a little more in my basement, and start all over the next day.

Getting to play music I want, as LOUD as I want, is also a huge plus.

One of my biggest regrets in recent memory was selling off my home equipment :( I had my smith machine, squat rack, leg press etc etc etc and took it right in the ass on the money I recouped over what was spent arghhh!

My issue started when I aquire to much shit and space started getting tight and cluttered. In hindsight I should have offed a few things and reclamed the space which would have led to easier use and less frustration. Now I put up with every other asshole and there mother clogging up the benches at my local gym :-/

I know the feeling. I workout before bed and not having to drive to the gym and wait for equipment is a huge time saver plus the wife works out with me. Sometime even nude !

How much did all that equipment run you, if I may ask? Looks awesome

Thanks man. I had alot more equipment before I moved like a second rack and leg press, dip station. Bumper plates and multiple bars. What I currently have is probably around 7k. It's all expensive stuff. My plates are ivanko deep dish and York milled plates, currently only have 2 bars a York b&r and a Texas power bar but they are perfect for me.

I have one and am building an new 1800 sf "shop" to be my new gym. Like you I have all commercial equipment and the powerblocks. Once new building is done will be searching craigslist to get even more machines.

Honestly I wait and only buy extremely high quality machines and buy them all used and get them shipped. Saves a ton and I end up with the best of the best.

I have a little gym down stairs. My daughter uses it more then me tho. I rather go to the gym around my house.

I have a home gym. Its an oldschool Bodysmith Prosystem that is probably as old as I am.

+ another bench with DB's that I can load up to 140+lbs

+ a water rower and spin bike with 50lb flywheel

Sounds like you are going all in and money being no object. With a building that size you could practically host powerlifting meets and training classes. Props to you for pulling that off and I myself might be taking part of my brother's huge warehouse that he uses for his HVAC shop for a gym with estimated 1200sq of space for my use.

Been all in for a while but just ran out of space. I have 3 young boys and wife works as much or more than I do. No way I can make time for a gym for proper training. I goto planet on my lunch breaks to get cardio in a lot of times but other than special occasions or traveling I haven't been to a commercial gym in about 5 years and I don't miss it at all.

Finally decided not to build a new house and wife agreed to shop so long as I got her a new back yard including a pool so finally getting my dream. This is really my only hobby other than coaching my sons in sports. Kind of sad but just don't have time to fish, hunt or golf, just don't and I love those things.

I have made the best gains of my life since switching to a home gym. Having mainly only a barbell, dbs, and gymnastic rings for the longest time rid me of the fuckarounditus I had when going to a commercial gym. Much less program hopping and really just focusing on the basics and getting as strong as I could. But with just a barbell, dbs and gymnastic rings you can do 95% of things and with a little ingenuity you can really make great gains. One thing I have learned that I always heard daunte trudal talk about is how to position the body to make the most of each lift for me and that and intensity have made the biggest difference in my physique and now in my mid 30s I am in the best shape of my life and don't plan on slowing down for the next 40 years.

Sweet. The wife and I are planning on moving. I prefer more remote areas where there are not many gyms.

I had a complete gym at home once and definitely had my strongest workouts there. I will be looking for some machines and a leg press this time. I always used free weights in the past.

Got a new toy last week, this thing is so smooth I love it! Also picked up 8 more 45lb plates and some gymnastic rings which my daughter loves. Caught the wife in the pic doing her thing.
