Search the internet for the term "Maximum privacy iPhone" or "android" depending on what phone you have. Then just read through them to see.
It was probably from location being shared over google, snapchat, facebook messenger, or any other app that loves to track every single thing you do all day every day. Fuck those companies. You are going to need to go through every setting on your phone and within each app to stop this from happening. Go through the app permissions for each app and remove their access to your location and whatever other unnecessary permissions you've granted them like camera, microphone, text messages, calls, etc.

If she got a hold of your phone she could def do it that way. All you would have to do is take it to a cell phone repair shop and they could find it. Also could be a tracker on your car. My buddy just got one of these for cheatin ass wife and it is quite extensive the info you can get from those at a pretty low cost
This is an ex girlfriend which is what makes it so crazy. That's the kind of thing a suspicious spouse does, not an ex girlfriend.

About 6 months or so she sent me a location request. She sent it several times and finally i just accepted it. However, I only accepted it for a few days. At least that is the assumption I was under. I got a new iphone but transferred everything over. Apparently she had been tracking me for a while. I live a pretty mundane life so she wasn't seeing much with an exception of the recent out of town trip.
What is concerning is I distinctly remember agreeing for the location request for only 72 hours. At this point, I have disable the app and cut communication with her.
If it were not for my daughter and my career, I would just move off grid. Cell phones, social media, etc... are becoming increasingly more intrusive. I cut ties with all social media a little over a year ago and I am glad I did.

Yeah she is a nutcase man. I would block her phone number, block on facebook, instagram, twitter, idk whatever other social media you have. Just completely ghost her. All she does is add stress to your life...just fucking cut her out of your life and that stress goes away! She might be crazy enough to get a new number and all that, but whatever, just keep blocking her. Don't even text her back or anything. I repeat: DO NOT ENGAGE!!!
Turn your location OFF on your phone ALWAYS. The only time it should be on is when you are actively using maps or maybe syncing your fitbit or something (since that requires location). If you have an android, follow this procedure: How to Disable Google Location Wi-Fi Scanning on Android
Even with location off, Google can still track you. They have a nationwide map of all wifi networks. I turn my wifi off anytime I leave my house. First off, it saves battery to not have your phone boosting signal to constantly search for wifi networks, then secondly, it stops google from being able to track you!! They can still triangulate your location based off cell tower latency to the nearest 3 towers, but that is often inaccurate for several reasons.

So yeah, read through that and update your phone settings. It is a weekend, take 30 mins and truly lock that shit down.
Also, go through your apps and make sure you log off any unknown cell phones. You can see this in settings.
Also go into your facebook settings and go to "Aps and Websites" and make sure you remove any old apps and whatnot from there.
I work in IT security, let me tell you, it is EXTREMELY common for apps you install on your phone, as well as anything you integrate with facebook or google, to take WAY FUCKING MORE INFORMATION than they actually need from you.
With apps you can at least lock this down permission by permission, but when you integrate something with facebook, often times they get access to TONS of your personal data that they don't need, and you do NOT have granular control over it.
For example, an app might be able to get your locations you posted statuses from, or your relationship status, your cell phone number, and more. It might not need ANY of those things, but they take it. Why? Because they can monetize it. When you blindly agree to their privacy policy (we all do it, I do it too. I am not reading all that legal bullshit), you often agree to let them sell your info to third party organizations, or at least to use that info to allow for more targeted advertisements.
This is a GREAT article about facebook. The section "see who's snooping in your account" will be of interest from you. You can see the location sand devices where you've logged in from.
