How much protein?

I'm bulking on npp/test/and dbol. I'm 6'2", 219 lbs, 9% BF. Currently shooting for 3600 clean cals a day, may bump to 4k cals a day, but I want a lean bulk. I calculate my maintenance cals around 3200.
Is 1g of protein per lb of my weight enough?
I'm used to eating more than that while maintaining or cutting, but when I'm eating so much food, especially while trying to eat clean, carbs go down alot easier than all that meat.
I'd rather not choke down 300-400 grams of protein if 219 grams will do the same job.
How much protein should I eat while bulking on cycle?

It would be wise to keep closer to 300, while you are on AAS. when natty 1pd per body weight is enough. it isnt that hard to get the additional protein if you add a tasty shake for a snack :0

Damn. You're 219 and you only have to bump up to 4k to see results? Fuck man, I only weigh 182, same bf %, but I am eating between 4500-5000 calories a day and am barely even putting on a pound a week. Thats on 300mg test...I just started a 16 week test/deca/tren/Dbol/SD cycle so I'm going to be putting away at least 5k a day, if not 5500. My maintenance calorie level is 4500. I eat less than that I start leaning up even more. So, I don't want to hear about you complaining about having to force down 4k lol.

I aim for between 350-400g of protein per day btw. 500g carbs and 150g fat. I usually exceed it by a significant amount.

Hey Truth,
Good input! I may have my cals too low. It's been a long road going from 20ish % BF to 9, and I'd be pissed if I got fat again, so I am being conservative with the calories. As long as my belt keeps fitting on the same loop, I'll gradually increase my cals.

Nearly every response youll get is merely bro science
The only study ive ever seen with validity was at .8g protein per KG of BW and that was shown to rebuild muscle in burn victims and any more got excreted thru the urine
Damn, I was afraid of that. So what do you go by gr8white? How much would you eat?

I'm 220 so I'll go up to 300g of protein. Which isn't much more than my BW. Going through my exercise science and nutrition classes. Even though there isn't much medical research to back how much protein should be taken.

A sedentary person will obviously need less than an athlete, bodybuilder, weightlifter. Some say that 1-1.8 grams of protein for an athlete is what's needed per KG of BW. With 2grams being the upper limit.

When I blast I use about 1.5 grams of protein per KG of BW or per pounds of BW if don't feel like calculating Kilos to pounds.

A pound of steak has 120g.
6 eggs has 42g
2 protein shakes(2 scoops each) is 100g.
I used to eat 400g+ a day when I had a physical job on top of working out.

I hate eating I'm going to try to get more from eggs and milk though, I usually only have one sometimes 2 real meals a day. I eat meat sometimes but protein powder is more economical.

Protein needs are less when bulking than when cutting so I'd shoot for anywhere from 200-250g per day. Whatever fits your diet best.

Really? I would think that your protein intake would need to be more. I know high protein supports fat loss, but I've never heard anything about moderate intake being more beneficial than high intake on a bulk.

All that being said, what are the downsides of eating too much protein? I was always under the assumption that with protein more is better regardless of the situation..

When you're cutting the body is in a calorie or energy deficit but it still needs a certain amour of energy to fuel biological processes as well as your activity. Where is this energy going to come from? It can get it from stored fat and stored amino acids in the muscle. Obviously you want to minimize the loss of muscle mass so you compensate by slightly increasing protein intake to recover what was lost.

Downsides to too much protein are you have less room for carbs in your diet which can impact performance negatively and IF you have kidney problems it can make them worse.
