The surplus would be the key there.Honestly now that I’ve increased the volume lifting in the 6-12 rep range, I’m noticing a big difference in visual growth. Before, for years, I use to strictly train 3-5 reps and would get stronger but hardly look any bigger unless I was in a big caloric surplus.
Fuck this heavy training shit, it’s taxing and little reward for me in terms of physique and hypertrophy.
I train heavy, always heavy and to failure. But heavy is also relative. I hit all muscle groups in the 5-9,10-12,15-20 rep range. But it’s all heavy as when you’re pushing beyond failure and using a very controlled and slow tempo. For bodybuilding purposes there’s no reason go below 5 reps as I don’t believe there’s enough tut.
