HRT protocol update

So, I just got done moving (first day with cable access in weeks). The new place is great. I've even got a 'den'. Anywho....

150mg every 10 days was the protocol my Endo started me on. After a blood test, it was decided that 200mg every 10 days would put me right at where I need to be. Well... that was a rollercoaster (mood went up and down horribly). So I asked my endo if I could take 100mg every 5 days, and he gave his blessing if I was willing to get shots that frequently. Since I do them myself (they are getting easier to do), I said 'heck yes' </Napoleon Dynamite voice>. So today is the first day of my new protocol which is 100mg every 5 days.

Why not every 7 days per Swales's protocol?

Because every 5 days will keep my levels more consistant (kind of a happy medium between the once per week and twice per week protocol arguements [anyone remember that thread? lol]).

Some guys use HCG the day or two before thier next shot because of the low testosterone levels at that time. An every 5 day protocol negates the need for that. But it's not as frequent as twice per week.

It's just simple. The consistancy of the stuff I use is 200mg/ml... so .5 ml every 5 days (simple to remember).

you may find after blood tests that 100mg every 5 days puts you over high normal and you may need to reduce to 80mg every 5 days.

Absolutely... we're still tuning my treatment.

Does every 5 days work better than every 3.5 days?

are you going to incorporate hcg into the schedule to offset testicular atrophy?

Unlike most of the gentlemen on this board, testicular atrophy doesn't bother me, or my wife, in the slightest. So, no, probably not. Unless I find that this protocol is ineffective, because of the vitality benefits of hCG. My junk fits better in my cup these days anyway.

No, not so much a "vitality" feeling as an overall sense of well-being and an ability to concentrate....and a ballsack that would make bulls envious. :p

HCG has done for more for me than Test ever did. I'm glad the Test is working out for you though, Kroms. It's been a rollercoaster ride for you...good that you found a doc to work with you!

Kroms_laugh,

Glad to hear things are working out for you. You deserve it.

Do not rule out the possiblility of adding hcg. Personally I found that adding hcg to my 100mg/week of cyp was the "missing link" in my TRT. In fact, as I sit here enjoying the subjective benefits of hcg even as we speak, I seem to recall being disappointed in my TRT until my doctor added hcg, and that was even with free T still in the high-normal range on the 7th day. Remember that hcg works via other pathways, besides the T boost it gives.

I'm greatly appreciative of you vets and your input. Thanks! The test is working great... and the rollercoaster has gone from getting on HRT to an emmotional one. My wife can attest to my mood swings during the last 3 or 4 days before my shot.

I hope to see an improvement with the 100mg every 5 days. I know that this will have an entirely different effect on my levels than the 200 mg every 10 days. Although it's the exact same amount, the frequency has a profound effect.

One thing that has been disappointing for me is my Endo only does total testosterone panels when he attempts to fine tune my dosage. I'll be doing my own panels at a walk-in clinic and keeping a detailed log of my E2, DHT, etc. I am currently seeking a more open-minded Urologist or Endocrinologist as many of you bros suggested.

***I'm definately not going to rule out hCG... as I've read what amazing things it's done for you bros.

Thanks again!
