I cant push or pull any oil through the whatman 0.22

I was trying to refilter gear that is in corn oil. I'm using a 5 cc syringe and for the life of me I can't pull (or push) anything through the filter, which is strange cause I'm all muscley and stuff The filter fills up with oil, but that's it. No oil actually goes through it. I wasted 2 new filters on this, and was hoping maybe someone had a different approach before I waste a 3rd (and good gear for that matter).

wow, that sucks. I wonder if the corn oil itself is too large a molecule for the .22? Im not a chemist or anything so i could be totally full of shit but it seems like 1 out of 3 would get a flow. im sure you have tried a steady pressure on the filter, right? like you dint just push and quit or anything? very curious to see what others have to say.

curious, are you filtering oyur own home gear? why corn oil? All i know about corn oil is little snide jokes i've heard people make about UGL's that use it, like its a cheap move or something, lol.

edit: maybe try one of the ruined ones and see if you can pull any water through it in reverse, just as a test to see that you can some sort of flow.

Yeah, i held the full 6 cc plunger all the way back for like 20-30 seconds. Likewise with positive pressure trying with a different filter going the other way. Not even a drop came through.
The corn oil is from an ugl gear that I wanted to refilter. I have some Grapeseed oil coming which I plan to use to cut a high concentration blend. It seems like I might have to buy some 0.45 whatmans to get the corn oil through. It's surprising because the corn oil seemed thinner than the Pfizer and Watson test I have a rx for.

warm it up a little.then take the plunger out of the syringe pore 4 cc in then put the plunger back in and push.i usally leave a little air in the top when im done the air usally gets the all the product out.or maby even use a 3cc syringe ,GL and why are u refiltering it.

What kind of filter were you using material wise? Like nylon, PVDF, mix cellulose...?

The reason I wanted to refilter it was that the source had been getting a lot of feedback on the boards complaining of visibly dirty gear, albiet it seemed to be limited to his tren, which was not what I bought. Is a whatman filter, so whatever that is made of. I don't think whatman has more than one material type.

Geez man, if he's sending out visibly dirty gear...... It says a lot about what else he's probably not doing.
Guaranteed he's not checking it for heavy metals.

Whatman makes all kinds, but it is most likely the PVDF, which should be fine. I don't see corn oil on any of our charts in the lab.

You can always get a 2 way vacuum valve (Millipore ~$10 ) and hand pump turn turn a syringe filter into a vacuum pump line. Makes everything easy, even this girl has no problems

Well, i finished the first bottle of test e, and no abcess yet despite having not had good luck with the refiltering. So I figure what I got is probably clean enough, except maybe for the heavy metals part. I'm sure some homebrew people probably test their powders for metals, but I can't imagine many people do it for finished gear.

I appreciate the replies. I'll be much more informed if or when I need to filter gear in the future.

Any reputable lab should be testing for basic heavy metals. Its cheap and easy to do.

What are you trying to push through?

I'll admit in the past, I screwed up a batch of TestE. Thick as hell. I put em in vials and used them without filtering. Later found out I didn't use enough BA. Added .05 ml of BA to each vial. Never got an infection or any other issues. I wouldn't recommend that for stuff you never saw made yourself though.

There's test kits online for basic stuff like lead or arsenic.

You can use a .45 filter just fine if you have clean raws and quality stuff ...and if you you use enough ba and bb to kill anything you will be fine!

.22 is overkill i think unless you have shitty raws

I'd go with a .45 myself to man and your using a 5cc god I hope your not pushing a ton though or your thumb is going to be huge from the workout haha.... and they are right you want to test for hard metals

I've seen them for around that yeah.... try amazon or ebay.

There are a few things you can do:

1. Warm the oil before filtering.
This thins it out and makes it easier to flow through the 0.22 filter

2. Use a larger syringe (20ml for example).
You should be able to apply more pressure without hurting your thumbs as much.

3. Use a caulk gun.
