IHSA reveals results from initial testing for steroids

[SIZE=-1]The first round of the Illinois High School Associations random drug testing came back clean.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]Of the 264 tests administered to high school athletes involved in state series competition, 258 had negative results. The other six were considered medical exemptions because they were taking prescribed medication.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]IHSA assistant executive director Kurt Gibson said 156 athletes were tested for stimulants and 108 checked for anabolic steroids.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]The IHSA is in its first year of the testing program that has a $150,000 budget and plans to test approximately another 700 athletes during the remainder of the school year.[/SIZE]
