But... they were talking about accidentally injecting a vein, and what would happen, cause the guy was worried about messing up his shot. That's what brought it up.
Yeah, IM is pretty darn safe... first shot I did, I had a hug top bubble so I could inject ALL of the oil, and when the air went in, I heard it hissing. Pretty funny, and I ain't anywhere near dead yet. But I didn't hit a vein either...

Well I did it and I am still alive!!!
My biggest fear was the needle but it wasn't that bad. I was shaking like a BITCH but it was time to man up and do. Thanks for all that helped and screw you guys who scared the shit out of me lol. Anyway wish me luck, time to grow!!

I had a pro inject me in the thigh the first time, and he was so good, I felt nothing. Then when it was my first time, man, it was WEIRD, cause I've never experienced 'sweating' over something before.
I was a little nervous, put the needle to the skin, and broke out in a sweat! Ha ha ha... that was so weird it made me laugh, which broke the tension, and I shoved the little bugger in right away, no pain, nothing... sheesh, what a let down! (grin)

I am here to settle up once and for all the bubble question. I have been a paramedic for 6 years now and I am also a med student. I have started more IVs than most of you have had hot dinners made. SMALL AIR BUBBLES WILL NOT KILL YOU! They wont evn make you sick. They get forced into solution in you blood long before they reach your heart. If this were not true I would have personally seen about 500 people die in the back of my ambulance. It takes an entire length of IV tubing (about 5ccs) to possibly cause a problem. That still might not kill you.
Bottom line, get all the bubbles out you can but dont sweat the small ones. I will be happy to start an IV on myself and let little air bubbles flow directly into my vein in front of any of you to prove this point. Hell, we'll make a live web broadcast out of it.
