Inflamation in shoulder

i was just wondering if any of you have had inflamation in either of your shoulders. i currently have it and it sucks. i'm taking anti-inflamitories and it helpks, but i was just wondering if any of you have had this and how long it affected you for?

Yeah,
My shoulders have been bothering me as well. Sore and stiff. Hurts to do squats even. I got a script for celebrex, will start tommorrow.

Just started new cycle last week..low and behold on 1st bench day i feel muscular pain in middle head of my shoulder..right up on the top of it..ibuprofin helps..I tried to work through it yesterday and it still hurts..this is afecting my bench day like a mother ! I found that incline bench with light weight does not hurt it..but flat or decline is a bitch..sucks !!! It wakes me up at night.Shoulder day is not too bad on it at all..just the bench..any ideas???sorry to steal your thread bro..maybe we can help each other...

Ive had a nagging shoulder injury for several years that is aggravated by simply sleeping on my side...Like Dennis, it totally caused my bench press to suck hind tit for a long time...I quit doing bench press work for awhile and just worked on slight incline work...I am still able to get a good chest pump and workout while allowing my shoulder to strengthen up...slight incline work seemed to take just enough pressure off of my left shoulder to allow a decent, painfree workout...I am back on bench now, hoping nothing serious developes...try different variations of chest work to see if you can find a happy medium....Everyone wants to bench a gazillion pounds, but when it hurts, it is counterproductive...leave it alone for awhile and try a variation...I hope it helps, bro!

That sounds like some good advise. I have not done flat bench in years. I have chicks that want to squeze my pecs alot. I do a shit load of heavy incline presses though. I have had to much tendonitus in my right shoulder from flat bench presses. I would say 4 or 5 times I've had it and finally got sick of it. Imo a slight incline worksas good and is easier on the shoulders.

IMHO, not a bad idea to hit the doc for an assessment. If not a bad injury you'd be amazed how a few shoulder exs from a good physical therapist can stabilize the complex and end the pain caused by hypermobility.
Or an MRI could show you're at risk for a tendon rupture...

I got a really nasty tendonitis on my left shoulder a few months ago and it hurt like hell. It also kept me out of the gym for like 3 weeks. When i got back i could bench press only 20kg and still was in pain. Now i can do 80kg 3x10 without any pain. The doctor gave me a shot of cortisone and it made me feel so much better. It's a bad thing anyway.

I have had it in my right knee, and the only 3 things you can do is 1) ice it after a workout for 20-30 min. 2) ibuprofen at night but not before your workouts. 3) lighten up on your weight for a month or two.
It lasted about 2-3 months.

I'm gonna go to the doc on my days off from work. I had a cortisone shot in March and it did not do shit. I did not lift for a couple of months and it was pain free. I started lifting 3 weeks ago and already it is trobbing most of the time. I can not even use my warm up weight on incline press , it hurt to bad. I will try milatary on tuesday . I have iced and taken a shit load of anti- inflamatories, and that is not working. Gettin damn tired of injuries , just had my bicep tendon reattached last fall.

Lots of good advice here. The best one is "go see the doc". Personal experience here: My neck is permanently injured, compression of the discs, straightening of the curvature, and spurs. The pain in my neck at one time was so severe, I could not lift for nearly two years. I have a lessened range of motion, and the pain is nearly constant. It's not going away, but i saw the doc, and it is under as much control as it's going to get. My father (used to compete), injured his shoulder a while back, and couldn't lift for a couple of years as well, he just started lifting again after a long hiatus. Just go see the doc, at least let him assess the issue, and start you on some type of rehab, so you don't suffer from a more severe permanent injury.

finally this is the tread ive bin looking for i hurt my shoulders on my very first cycle 16 years ago and they allways bother me when i get going good my right shoulder is killing me right now and i did back and bis at the gym 2 nite what do u guys take i allways thought just tuff it out

I agree WorkInProgress--- Many weightlifters don't realize how hypermobile their shoulders really are. I'd say a majority of lifters in the gym have weak rotator cuffs (particarularly in the external rotators) along with upper back weakness (specifically middle Trap/Lower Trap and Rhomboids), which all play a vitial role in shoulder stability.

Without shoulder stability, you are prone to shoulder injury in heavy benching/overhead presses, impingement and so forth.

From what you said Mr. Thickneck, I"d suggest seeing a PT or ATC, to specifically assess your shoulder mechanics. If your scapulothoracic mechanics are out of whack with arm flexion/scaption-- you're prone to injure your RTC's (rotator cuff), as well your long head of bicep.

I currently have tendinitis in both of my elbows. It's tennis elbow and I've been going to Physical Therapy for 2 weeks and I have 2 more weeks to go. There area few things I could tell you about getting yourselves healed a bit quicker. Nobody really wants to take a time off of lifting, so what I've been told by my PT is before you go to work out heat your shoulder(or wherever the pain is) for about 10 minutes. Make sure you get a good stretch in when you get to the gym also. After you lift ice down for about 10 minutes and take some ibuprofen. I'm on a prescription of celebrex which really doesn't do much but it is my AI. I would probably suggest laying off of the workouts that really aggravate it, and if you can't do that then obviously go light. If you go to the doctor stay away from cortisone shots because they only weaken the tendons and can possibly cause more problems. Obviously try not to sleep on your shoulders or wherever it hurts because that'd only make it worse too. For anybody having a major problem with really an area of their body that is sore or hurts like tendinitis someplace else, pick up this stuff called Oratropin-1, and if you want SuperCissus RX. If you want the link to the website PM me because it won't let me post it on here. The SuperCissus can be picked up off of any websites like DPS Nutrition. I have not used the oratropin but I have talked to enough people and read enough threads over on another forum that I believe its good enough. And no the people weren't from the *** Tech company either. I hope this helps some of you out that have problems. Good luck with everything!

Had my MRI today , will let you know what is wrong.Something is wrong since feb. I think it need's to be scoped and cleaned out. It either ache's or it throbbs, can't do any chest at all , not even a warm up weight. Had a cortisone shot in Feb. and it did not do shit. I just want it fixed , i have a cycle coming soon. Maybe the few years of pressing 335 for 6-8 on the smith machine mitatiry did not help. But that was when i was the biggest. WAit ,wait ,wait

I also had probs. with my rotator cuffs during benches.
I dropped the benches for awhile, stopped any shoulder pressing, and just concentrated on heavy dumbbell and barbell shruggs and worked up to heavy slighty learning forward side lateral raises starting with dumbells under my legs and throwing them back and up.
This built up my shoulders well and I went back to benches without a problem.
My shoulders and traps are better than ever now and I never do shoulder presses of any kind.
Plus I built my bench press up strong enough to rip my pec, with out any problems at all
Great:mad:

I have a tear in my supraspinatus tendon in my shoulder . Needs to be fixed . I just went though this with a ruptured bicep tendon . Anyone had supra sugery before ? I guess the tendons can't keep up to the muscle when your taking gear . :(
