Most parents would definitely say no! My kid is great in school makes straight A's. Plays in the band. Goes to church on Sundays. Volunteers on the weekend with the homeless. Knows not to use drugs. There are hundreds of reasons parents will claim why there kids don't do steroids or performance enhancers. There are only a few that the kid/young adult will come up with for using.
1) peers are using them.
2) wanted to be better at whatever
3) wanted physical enhancement
4) professionals are using them
5) a parent/family member is using them
I'm not saying these are all of them by any means but 4 of the 5 pertain to me and my son's experience when he was 16. 1-4 to be clear of which ones. I was 36 and had never used any aas before nor did I want to. The thought had crossed my mind plenty of times but I wanted to be a role model for my son and show him hard work, diet and dedication was all you had to have to be naturally as good or better than the other guy. My son was 16 a junior in high school. He had been a athlete since he was 4. He played every sport he could play up until high school then focused on football and basketball. 6' 190 lbs. lean and mean. He played linebacker and hit like he was 220 lbs. Competitive, smart, happy, respectful and never bullied kids. He was the one that took up for the others. His girlfriend was the captain of the cheerleaders. All around he was a great kid. My job can keep me gone a week or two months at a time. So these changes I'm going to describe took place over 3 months. Aggression (roid rage to a fn extreme) had never seen that side of him. Teen-ager having a bad day? Acne worse than normal. He is 16 and its a 100degrees in the summer here, not to mention his diet which is eat everything. Well he is growing? His nipples were puffy but I'd never really noticed before cause I don't pay attention to my son's nipples. Once again puberty. All slow changes that never occurred at once but over time. Well never questioned it. I regret that now. My wife is cleaning his room because there are some 16 yr old boys that don't do a great job at that.!!! Moved a night stand and there they were. 1 vial of test e 250mg/ml and 2 packs of stanozolol (Winny). Of course I'd be out of town and get this news with a week left before my return. Over the phone conversation if you call it that was straight rage from him. Textbook fn roid rage denial. Okay.... Once home talked, Dr visit/ lab work, drug test, counseling, pct and a feeling of failure as a father. Since then we have a open relationship and talk (two way talks) . He realizes that he made a mistake and it is cheating when used in sports activities when it's prohibited. Luckily my son recovered from his aas use with no apparent harm to his body. I only hope that you watch for the signs and talk to yours before it happens to your child. Steroid use is more common than most of use parents believe so don't assume!
