Issues presidential candidates should focus on?

I wish more of the potential candidates would focus on 'Prison Rehabilitation Reform', improving public school education to compete with the world, developing more technologies domestically, lowering wasteful spending, building more oil refineries in the USA and changing some of the damaging trade policies US has with Latin Countries.

Good luck on many of those issues, especially reducing wasteful spending.

Education is extremely important, and I think the best solution is for the federal government to completely remove itself from public education.

The economy and fiscal responsibility is a top issue for me. Wasteful spending and billions upon billions of dollars of pork spending pisses me off to no end.

I would like to see a complete tax overhaul. Not reform - overhaul. Implement the Fair Tax.

Big Neal Boortz fan huh? I like a lot of the ideals of the Libertarian party.

Actually I would like government to fund public education but perhaps private independent panels run actual schools and develop the text books and teaching methods. Also I would like for teachers pay to be increased as well.

The reasoning I say that I still want government to fund public schooling because I am afraid many local school districts wouldn't be able to fund themselves or adequately enough. Also many local governments do not get it right either. Many districts are re-districting so often because of poor planning before and then more poor planning after re-districting the second and third time.

Personally I think if we could just get rid of wasteful spending or even just reduce it by say 30% across the board, just imagine what this country could accomplish with the excess funds and the more efficient government.

I also wish more federal funding would go towards grants for start up technology companies.

Ive actually never heard his radio show. I did read the Fair Tax book, though. Makes tons of sense. I, too, agree with much of what the LP stands for.

It so many damn candidates that I forgot about the Governor of New Mexico and the Goveronor of Arkansas are running as well.

You posted lots of good ideas. We definitely need prison reform. Education reform good too. More and New technology excellent. Reducing wasteful spending even better. The only thing I disagree with is the oil... I think the time has come to be energy independant, and it's just not going to be with oil. We also need Welfare reform, and legislation aimed towards better accountability of elected officials. I also think that the time has come to bring forth a Constitutional Amendment that places term limits on US Reps, as well as US Senators. The sad part is, it's not the President that writes the legislation, it's both Houses of Congress, and due to partisan politics... none of this will ever happen. Whether it's a Democrat or Republican elected in 08, he/she is basically going to be hamstrung by a self righteous Senate, as well as House. Term limits are the key to successful reform.

I too would love to see school vouchers and the FairTax and less government intrusion but we have to count on politicians giving up power and I don't know if they are capable.

No changes will ever take place until term limits are established for for congressman and senators. The President, Vice President, Governors, etc. can only hold office for so many years...why in the fuck should congressman and senators be allowed to hold a position for life then use their "name" to get their relatives elected???

This country is starving for fresh ideas and new blood. The status quo (be they republican or democrat) needs to be abolished. Until then, the cycle will continue and we the voters will keep putting our quarters into the merry-go-round.
