True. It is a problem I'm well aware of from 15 years of administrating a forum.
Implementing controls presents its own set of problems.
Forum admins/mods can't always accurately tell the difference between a legitimate customer with a legitimate complaint AND a competitor's rep creating a BS story.
Sources are likely to tell forum admins'/mods that practically all complaints are fake (even legit ones). Do you take the source's word at face value?
Certainly, some complaints will be bogus. But in the process of deleting those complaints, there will inevitably be quite a few false positives (i.e. legit complaints that are censored).
What controls can prevent this?
My feeling on the matter is that I think it is always worse to delete/censor legitimate complaints from good members than it is to let a few false negatives slip by.

Im sure sources will try to bash other sources and use unethical practices like that but i still think a smart board member can make a good decision. Its not a good feeling when you have been the member of a board for 12 years and speak out against a source selling fake products only to have your threads deleted and then you find yourself banned. Why? Because that particular source gives unlimited human grade anabolics to the forum mods as "Gifts" so they do whatever they can to protect him. Sad but true.

How about - DONT be an "illegal drug dealer".... Stop making a fool of yourself. And stop soliciting in lame ass ways. As stop using words that give web crawlers semi-loafers.
I think what Millard is trying to say.. Is that with consideration that the general public will seek whatever the hell it is they want, why not provide a place to determine what the real alternatives are, and with consideration of a given RISK an individual is willing to take.. So if you are here asking questions that sound like a person of questionable intelligence uttered them, then you might present yourself as that one who might brew a batch of Cadmium posioned powder in a lead pot with a dirty spoon....

Brings back good memories.Shit Glox was the first source i used back in the old days here.
Most BS stories about bad products or service can be easily disproved by the source in question assuming they have a good grasp of written English.
Rival sources / reps in most cases won't even bother to place an order with the source they are trying to discredit .
Sources that give perfect service to the vast majortiy of their customers tend to have their reputations defended by them.

The only way I know to know who is who, is by watching the IP addresses. At least you would know who are the duplicate members.
