Keaton Jones... Bullying needs to stop

The loss chart is independent of initial power it justbshows the reduction, apply the db reduction to any starting db??

The environment matters a lot thru the absorption coefficient and an underground mine is about the best data you will get to a cave in shitholastan.

This;

152dB at 1w/1m.

I don't think I'm reading it right. You will have to explain please I am more of an RF guy. That says to me you have a -150db noise floor at 1W at 1m - meaning a very pure/clean tone which has nothing to do with total power, its a sound quality measure based on the random noise the speaker produces?? But I am guessing I'm wrong there?

it's an unavoidable fact that audio, at any frequency, can render you useless.

No argument, the question is can it be configured in a practical military application against a suicidal enemy. If it is not being utilised by the most high tech army in human history is telling.

Again high frequencies for crowd control already in use, old news. Low frequency lethal weapons??

ETA, impressive resume for sure, sounds like a fun & interesting way to make a living.

If you are Rick Rubin, Butch Vig, Steve Albini or Phil Spectre IRL, I'm a kiss yr ass, no homo.

I can vouch for ickys prowess. At least what he has shown me on some of his jobs its pretty fucking outstanding. I think he owns his company as well? Not an employee. Big big projects. Big players involved for sure

They are actively used right now on most of the U.S. Navy's fleet. Alot of the technology is still being perfected by R+D in the U.S. Army and USAF. It would be a great addition for perimeter security at a FOB(forward operating base). Used in Tora Bora?? I have no fukin clue. I was attached to a USMC Recon team performing Surveillance and Reconnaissance far away from Tora Bora when it happened. Wouldn't be surprised if it was used though.
No one gets attached to a Marine Recon team unless their the best of the best. Sub 15 minute 5ks, outstanding physical and mental fortitude, excellence in combat and a will that cannot be beaten. Congrats hurricane. Thats fucking outstanding

Yeah bud I was attached quite a bit as their JTAC. That's why I have so much respect for them. Your guys would come down to Eglin AFB quite a bit for live fire exercises in the numerous kill houses down there. That's why I always say they're the best I worked with. Quite a few Recon Marines used to attend USAF JTAC training at Nellis AFB back in the late 90's. I believe the Corps now has their own training course for Recon Marines to qualify as CAS specialists. That was my role with them. Stay on the radio and protect the team with superior air power. The Marines protected my ass! Yeah they always gave me shit about the USAF(like you), but they respected me for my abilities. And I sure as shit respected them. Extremely professional and smart dudes. Not to mention violent as fuk when it was called for. Worked with 1st Recon out of Pendleton and the 2nd out of Lejeune. Never the 3rd out of Japan. And I believe the 4th is your Reserve Unit. Like stated Trukk. I praise your fellow Marines because I know how good they are. I just tried to fit in and not fuk up or slow them down. lol

The shamed 4th battalion. Only USMC battalion to ever surrender. They burned their colors and disentegrated the unit. That was during WWII. Very shameful

Good history lesson bro. I forgot about the Phillipines. Guarantee those Marines wanted to fight. Command really fukd those guys over. Backs to the ocean and Japs to the front.

They were under command of the US Army when they surrendered in Bataan
Go figure
Yup. That coward General Wainwright. Who ordered a USMC captain to surrender. Those Marines went through hell. I can't imagine artillery being rained down on you for days without food, water, or ammo to even fight back. Tough fukin jarheads.

###dB @ 1w/1m has a direct correlation to power. It's showing you a sound preasure level (spl), in this case dB. It also shows a specific voltage and distance. The last two variables never change, just the dB rating does. The dB rating changes becasue of the speaker being used and the science behind a specific speaker design. This measurement doesn't relate to quality, just power. This initial dB rating is the baseline number you use to make calculations and it is almost always the highest peak recorded, not continuous output. You could use white or pink noise to get this spl rating but i would use pink noise personally as would 90% of the professional audio world, so no it's not a random noise per se. All rated speakers are supposed to follow these guidelines. We glossed over a few needed details. There are a solid handful more we skipped over due to lack of importance to the current math.

Noise floor does relate to some aspects of quality. Noise floor is the sum of all noise minus the signal you want. The difference between the two is called signal to noise ratio (s/n). The greater the difference the better the potential audio quality.

Using low frequency as a weapon is possible but as a whole the idea of widely used larger applications will fall short imo, however it isn't far from reality. Specialty applications maybe? Follow the math and you'll see it's very easy, and cheap compared to other government projects, to string 10, 20 or 30 of these together as a source of audio. Also, as stayed earlier, this audio source is pushing air through an opening substantially smaller than any of it's peers systems. This also matters, bigly. Again, think of water but this time think of a firehose nozzle. As you close the nozzle, the power of the water increases. Same exact idea.

Easy math just for fun:
If 30 Matterhorns were deployed...
152dB + (29 * 3dB)=
152dB + 87dB=
239dB

Remember your "at range" assumption? Well now we have added 87dB so back to the easy math:
105dB at 270m is now 192dB at 270m
With this amount of power you, in theory, will make PPE useless even at that distance.
192dB - 30dB (ear PPE) = 162dB

Has it, is it or will it be used as a reliable weapon? I have no clue. Possible? Absolutely. They have the technology but don't have the people to come up with the idea to make it work, yet.

And no, I'm not famous or known outside of my industry. Rick Ruben I am not. Would enjoy his cash flow, however.

I can vouch for ickys prowess. At least what he has shown me on some of his jobs its pretty fucking outstanding. I think he owns his company as well? Not an employee. Big big projects. Big players involved for sure
Thanks for vouching big man. We put a lot of pride in what we do. Glad it shows to some degree.

Unfortunately I'm not the principal but I am vested, so sort of an owner? I'm 2nd in command outside of the owners. We have over 60 employees with a small group of guys that keep the whole thing pointed in the right direction. For anyone reading who thinks being higher up the ladder is better, it is! But it comes with issues. I had this week as a vacation week but canceled it due to contracts needing attention and effort before then close of the year. Needless to say i owe my wife big time right now.

In 2017 we've built 2 new college campuses, an athletic complex and football field all the way down to projector and computer interfaces in a
k-12 classrooms; and everything in between. I'll have personally programmed close to 500 conference and classrooms.

Outside of being able to turn on and use some of the biggest and best A/V systems know to man what I love about my job is I can wear and do what I want. Jeans and a t-shirt? No worries. Never shave? No worries! Maybe smell like pot? No worries!! Not too shabby.

I've been involved with almost everything you can think of for A/V work but two things I haven't done yet is work on a jumbo tron install or an electronic billboard. Maybe someday...

On a similar theme but using EM I believe in the millimetre wavelength. The wavelength does not penetrate into human organs and is confined to the surface layer where the nerves are hence considered non lethal pain compliance.

Could be argued tho it fits under the definition of human torture which has legal consequences. The "enemy" are friendly soldiers in a live test.

Here is an audio non lethal weapon in the high frequency audio range. Also used for giving clear spoken instructions over long distances. Also pain compliance capacity.

the navy is going to be using something along the lines of a LRAD product. Probably LRAD corporations products, tbh. Horn loaded, steerable audio sources with more ability to use available power than basically any other transducer on the planet. These guys have products that can blast higher frequencies in such a way that they can accurately hit 160dB+ at a few miles down range.

It will, not "it might", explode your ear drums without hesitation. Instant destruction. Anyone here ever break an ear drum? I've injured both, different reasons for each but damaged non the less. I'd rather tear my arm apart again. When you have any serious damage to them your world stops. It ruins your ability to think, pain will be at a 10, your equilibrium is gone.

LARD has to be a sweet environment to work in. Military cash and a playgrounds worth of technology, probably surrounded by like minded engineering folks as well. I'd cut a pinky finger off for the opportunity.

Exactly right bud. Very similar to LRAD. You know I appreciate the military shout out but myself and most other vets don't think we're any better then anyone else. I just chose a different path then most and tried to be the best at what I did. No different from you bud!! We each have our calling in life. You can do it half ass or balls to the walls. I chose the latter. Look at how successful you are. I'm sure your career is challenging. And my stupid ass can't figure out half of what your saying. lol. Smart guys like you come up with the new technology. Guys like me and @gr8whitetrukker kill people with it. I appreciate the respect brother. But I have just as much for you. Your a solid, stand up dude. Someone I'm proud to call a friend. @Ickyrica has also shown me some of his work. It's fukin insane!

I'm usually on Meso like white on rice but this week is killing me. Almost zero time for anything outside of work, I would have replied sooner bro.

I've been kicking around for almost 2 years now and I have to say the same for you dude. Stand up man, proud to have you in my very thin rolodex (remember those things!!) of friends. And yes, you vets are better than a lot of us civilians. You will die to defend people who would shit on your service record at the drop of a hat, for starters. You're better than that type of person every second of every day. I'd be ecstatic if I had your military chops and discipline. No joke.

I'm nothing special really. My one big attribute ime would be my effort level is basically unparalleled. I'm not the smartest, quickest or the best at amything BUT I don't stop until the jobs done. I'm fucking relentless. I'm a perfect example of monkey see monkey do, too. Show me what's going on and I'm good.

One thing I wish I had was better internal emotional control. I hide my issues as best I can but my head is always spinning out of control. Like a duck in a pond: still on top of the water but those webbed feet are flipping back and forth at a million miles a minute.

We will just have to keep getting better with age i guess ;)

So what do you do when it's too cold to terminate fiber outside? Buy a tent!! I had a tech getting the final terminations on a truck box finished up and tested. It's cold out so we got him a tent and a heater, easy living!! A truck box is where Fox Sports, ESPN etc. gets it's A/V from. 20171221_125933.jpg 20171221_130020.jpg 20171221_130035.jpg

I'll stop after this post. An idea of how big some stadium speakers and mounts are...20171222_084456.jpg 20171222_084421.jpg 20171222_092026.jpg
I'm 6' even. The speaker is about 5' vertical, 600#. The mount is another 700# with blocks. Had to crane it up. Notice the lightning rod? Something tells me that voice coil is smoked if it gets hit with a strike, rod or not!
