This type of thread is exactly the reason I stopped participating in political discussion. It just seems that too many members here at meso can't argue their point without resulting to insults, personal attacks and 6th grade level commentary (The equivalent to, "I know you are, but what am I")

It's simply not worth it, and in the rare moments when two people actually do have a decent debate going on, some jackass jumps in and starts with the childish commentary. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, having a political debate on an open message board (dedicated to something completely different than political discussion) has to be equivalent of debating politics across a crowded subway car in the middle of rush hour. Some asshole is for sure going to jump in and force his views on everyone else, be it by hook or by crook.

And my cousin is in Fallujah right now.....and he also spent 12 months in Afghanistan (he transferred units when he moved..and his new unit was deployed to Iraq)...and he is proud as hell to be serving his country in this manner and is fully aware that he could die...but he still loves it.
