Legality of open source boards?

I guess my question is if someone owned & profited from an open source board could they be prosecuted for it?
If someone was a staff member IE Admin or Mod could they be prosecuted?

Google gymace and operation raw deal. He owned steroid superboard.

He snitched and got less time though.

I'll look into it.

I joined my first board not long after raw deal went down, I wasn't around to see it first hand. From what people tell me things today are at least at the same level of right before raw deal.
When I first came on the boards there was no open domestic sourcing anywhere, now its at the point that open source domestic boards are going to sell shirts & hats advertising.

It's all politics. $ talks, even to the Courts. Sum 1 can run a wireless IP out of a 3rd world country - play shell - games dam near avoid a conviction ev time.

I get that feeling of impending doom too. They just need an enthusiastic agents and a US attorney looking to make his way to the top. It's a prosecution of opportunity. Sources are always a high profile low risk bust. They'll probably go after eroids.

Keep your noses clean, but they won't go after buyers. At least the likelihood is pretty damn low.

I have been a mod on 2 high profile source boards under a different name and have been so for many years. I stopped 2 months ago after several sources that I openly posted about got popped. The sites are not secure and the servers and everyones info can be hacked by the feds. It has spooked me so bad , that I have stopped on the boards and now only post on 2 boards. The Feds will go after the owners and the distributors however my fear was that they would go after the mods and lower players to gain information on the big fish. I gave it all up due the fact that free gear was not worth having a controlled delivery or a knock at my door. I must say I am much more relaxed now than I have ever been in this game and I now only peruse the forums for fun in lieu of it consuming me.

these sites can be hacked by a 13 year old with 100$ in equipment. I watched my buddies brother access the DMV main frame with just his Mac. it nuts

I noticed that a lot of boards have been hacked in the last year or so.

Some of the vetting for mod/admin positions is severely lacking, all it would probably take is for 1 guy with your level of knowledge to flip & the whole ship would sink. Time & again especially when people get busted we see that the person behind the computer is FAR from what they portray themselves as.... I wouldn't be surprised if there are LE who have status on boards, its way to easy in certain places.

Thanks for posting.

Scary shit.

Just imagine what a professional hacker for hire or LE could do?

That was the MAIN PAGE not the MAIN FRAME

I'm about to hack into my landlord's wife's MAIN FRAME, though

I know for a fact that one particular source board is run by the DEA . I predict you will see some major source busting going on in the near future.

Hmm, the DEA providing information on how to acquire AAS, sounds like absolute horse crap to me. Well here's the problem, IMO. In order for the DEA to prosecute those attempting to make a purchase of "an illegal/controlled substance" the site selling would also have to openly state what they are selling and that the "purchase of these products absent a physicians prescription is illegal"! Since a "reasonable person" knows many AAS sites sell much more than illicit substances such as; peptides, PCT drugs, supplements, how is one to know "what is being purchased was illegal"? Moreover because "they" are not selling crack, meth ect "plausible deniability" is applicable. Otherwise their failings could easily be construed legally as OVERT ENTRAPMENT of the lay citizenry! That's the kind of BS which provides "photo ops" for senators and could prompt a "congressional investigation" into "abuse of powers"!
:)

If you really have this information why would you withhold it?

So long as the mods or admin do not refer anyone to a source, then they have not participated in any drug transaction.

Gymace didn't follow that rule.

This is because there are admins who know nothing of board security.

And there are known members of LE in this community. You think cops don't juice?

Yeah, I'm familiar with a few situations where Cops were busted...... One was on OLM ( maybe pro? ) and continued to post even after he went down.

It's a pretty fine line though isn't it? I mean what is it when a mod says that someone is GTG, or that they have excellent shipping, or tells everybody how great the quality is? I know its not a referral, but its certainly a recommendation.
Then there's the whole issues of money changing hands for ad space, and favors for censoring negative feedback...... It's aiding the transaction isn't it?
In a roundabout way all that an open source board is, is a big referral service for noobs.
