LIPIDS- HDL/LDL

Ok maybe I shouldnt of said bullshit but big pharma makes $11-19 billion dollars a year off of statins doesnt matter if they are cheap to you.Cause soneone on Joe Rogan doesnt make them a doctor or smart?Plenty of smart people on podcast and some crazy ones!Im not telling anyone to come off of statins especially if their family history needs them to be on statins.Im just telling what im trying with my own body and Im not listening to big pharma you can though! You can google statins see all the articles that come up about how much of a money maker they are for big pharma!

You’re not wrong. Joe Rogan has had Peter Attia on and he’s had on that nutty anti-vax cardiologist from the UK, the carnivore dude, etc. Point is that it’s an unreliable source of data without a great deal more scrutiny.

I listened to the one with the Area 51 guy and his story is amazing and perfectly plausible and complete bullshit.

Big pharma and the medical community have also failed to employ statins in ways optimal for prevention of ASCVD and are to a great deal culpable for the backlash against them.

Tom Dayspring refers to the typical 40mg dose of atorvaststin as a “gorilla statin”. Necessary for someone in a high risk bracket for whom the side effects wouldn’t be a big deal. What’s a little muscle pain when the alternative is a heart attack?

I had a bit of an outburst earlier in the thread as I’m starting to see a lot of anti-statin hype based on specious reasoning. My point though is that low dose statins are a great idea for prevention for some. As is ezetimibe in conjunction.

For the dude that’s getting Repatha, I’m jealous. I have elevated Lp(a) which is genetic, only treatable with a PCSK9 inhibitor and completely not covered by my insurance. I’m looking forward to trying inclisiran.

1 teaspoon = 2.5g of EPA+DHA. I'm satisfied with that amount
>4g/day is recommended for folks at risk for ASCVD. I take “Viva Naturals Triple Strength” off Amazon. It’s about the cheapest IFOS certified one. I take 3 pills AM and 3 pills PM. They freeze well for less rancidity and zero fish burps.

my insurance doesent Cover it but I qualify for the 5.00 copay card threw Repatha themselves. Otherwise it's about 500.00 for two needles.

Yeah check out the repatha website. Repatha will drop your ldl a shit load. I've been using it on and off for 2 years. Supposed to take it once every 2 weeks but sometimes I go monthly but every one is different.

Guess I qualified. Now to see if I can fill it.

Ah the evergreen topic of lipids, statins and aas use. Probably already answered a million of times on the forums but yet again and again, the same topic arises with the same uneducated arguments against this or that statin and with the same asinine recommendations of useless supplements.

First of all, all aas lower HDL as they increase the activity of hepatic triglyceride lipase. It's not just anavar, it's also the 400 mg's of test that you're using. Yes, some aas are bigger offenders then others, especially the non aromatizing ones, as estrogen does help in offsetting the androgens negative effect's.

What you need to take care on cycle is inflammation. Inflammation + bad lipids = plaque. Statins lower inflammation and lower lipids. Try a very low dose of rosuvastatin. 5mg x 2 week. If you're a good responder, it will halve your ldl with zero side effects.

The story does not end at measuring only LDL and HDL. For anybody who is more serious about lipid management, you should also measure apolipoprotein A1 and lipoprotein A. You could also add apo B ... And while you're at it, check your CRP (hsCRP).

@PeterBond has a nice short article about aas effects on lipids I suggest everybody reads: The effects of anabolic steroids on blood lipids

100% accurate. The bro-science nonsense needs to stop. Rosuvastatin at 10mgs a week has done absolute wonders for my LDL levels. It will not raise your HDL but it did cut my LDL from 164 to 90.

Rosuvastatin is as important to a cycle as an AI.

That's a very similar response to mine on 5mg x 2 week. LDL 203 to 92 mg/dl and trygs 38 down to 11 mg/dl. That's on cycle.

Any joint pain at 10mg Ed? I’ve been having knee pain on leg press/squats and golfers elbow on my right arm seemed to have started around the time I went on rosuvastatin

I have had joint pain my whole life. It did not seem to change with the Statin.
