For example I just changed out a few things after a few months of doing everything as written.Change is good but not as much as most people swap in and out programs. I don't buy in to this certain level you gotta reach to start adding in more advanced techniques. It's just another way of adding stress to the muscle. And bring it out of its comfort zone. Progressive resistance is key but it's not the only factor. I won't call it muscle confusion but this is a reality. Also I don't think maintenance work would be required. All the same working sets are there just by way of supersets, pre exhaustion sets, 21's, heavy negatives, rest pause to name a few. Because your incorporating supersets you wouldn't by nature have as many sets per week as you do now but it would be extremely effective at breaking plateaus.
Gone are the dumbbell flats & inclines for hammer strength inclines and flats. Same motion, different way to distribute the stress.
Gone are the same arm exercises for 2 new ones
Gone are the vertical pulls and dumbbell rows. Now I rotate vertical pulls and bent barbell rows for balance. Alot of way to do things
I incorporated a different calf routine as well which is way way more challenging than straight sets performed ED.
Try this out
5 sets of 10 @ (whatever weight)
15 sec rest
5 sets of 10 @BW
Essentially supersets. I CANNOT perform these everyday. Too challenging. Too much overload. But I try for at least twice per week. Made a tremendous difference in my size, power and control in my calf training.
