Morning Nutrition

I work out first thing in the morning within 30 minutes of waking up.

Any suggestions on what I need to eat prior to workout?
Usually I go in on an empty stomach and have a protein shake right after, then a meal within an hour after that, but an ideas on whether or not I need something before I workout?

Thanks

An amino acid supplement such as Chain'd Out or Xtend would probably help out. I've used them both and they are each light on your stomach and taste good. Aminos would give your body a little fuel to run on to prevent any catabolic action. I take the Chain'd Out with my morning cardio during my pre-contest cut. It takes a day to burn the muscle you built in months. Just my opinion, hope it helps. :D

your body can metabolize lean muscle for energy exponentially faster that you can build it. In a 'cutting' phase it is important to keep your body adequately fueled so that it does not catabolize lean muscle.

Ah
Makes sense.
That's actually what got me thinking about it, I was talking to someone about working out first thing in the morning and they were telling me my body was probably burning my own muscle for energy because I was working out first thing.

One thing that has helped for me, and this is just me is Caesine Protein before bed. This might help when you start to put the Amino's in your system. Another technique that has worked for me is 12-24oz of ice cold water upon wakening. Drinking a some sort of Whey when your about 20 min into your workout might help too...Just my thoughts and experience, and I am NO PRO!! Just try to be a versed as I can on the what works

Good luck

Thanks for the reply bro
Yea I have tried the casein protein before bed and it does help in that it doesn't make me feel so empty stomach, but during your workout your muscle are feeding off carbs, so I was thinking more about energy/carbs.

Some people have the ability to drink protein right before and during their workouts, for some reason that's not me lol. I have a weak stomach, and even a small dose of protein in water or milk during or right before a workout makes my stomach upset the entire workout - And sometimes it's came back up.

I will try the water thing right when I wake, that sounds like it could help.

Appreciate it man!

Make a shake. Get some whole eggs, fruit, honey, a lil protein powder, add in some fat (nut butter or coconut oil) and your good to go

You should try to nibble on something to avoid feeling dizzy and hungry before workout. You should take eat around 200-300 calories and avoid too much protein and fat. Take it in the proper quantity. Take fruit juice or vegetable soup after workout.

1 ½ Cups Skim Milk
Half or Small Frozen Bananna
2 Tbsb Natural PB
½ Cup Oatmeal (Uncooked)
Protein Mix (Mix in Last) 1 Scoop

I blend this up with and take it 30-45 minutes before my workouts. Every since, I have noticed that my workouts suffer without them. The very first time I tried it, amazingly, I had an AWESOME workout.

For the summer semester my only time to workout on most days is early morning. My nutrition routine is as follows.

-Waking (approx 1 hour pre-workout) : 25g whey isolate, 1 scoop Dymatize Recoup Amino Complex, 1 scoop GlycoMaize

-30 min pre workout: 2 scoops Dymatize Recoup Amino Complex, 1/2 scoop 1MR pre-wprkout, 5g Creatine Mono

-Train like a monkey

-1hour post workout: 25g whey isolate, 25g casein, 5g glutamine, 5g Creatine Mono, 5g BCAA (2:1:1ratio), 1 scoop (35g) GlycoMaize
