No worries. And if you do decide to go on TRT, you can definitely do a cycle or do blasts. Just wanna make sure you leave enough time before your next round of blood work so your doc doesn't get suspicious

HIGHLY UNLIKELY a tumor because of your LH and FSH ranges. Mine were - numbers so they did an MRI. Came back negative.Thank you Deez. I will talk about that with my doctor, and yes I will deffienately be looking for another doctor to talk to this coming week. I sure hope it is not a tumor, wow that would be terrible--but I think it is unlikely because my LH and FSH looked in range.
My apology for posting in the wrong section. After reading more here I see that the Mens Health would have been more appropriate. Sorry I am brand new here and also had questions regarding whether I could still safely add a cycle (blast) at some point if I did commit to TRT so I posted here. I have done nothing but read all night and all day to get up to speed here, thanks everyone for such a good community here.
If I mod feels it is better to move this to the men's health forums -- go for it, I understand.
@RThoads Did you get your thyroid levels checked?
TSH is used for diagnosis of hypopituitary, NOT to diagnose hypothyroidism (unless it’s high). To find out if you are hypothyroid you will need to check the following:
Unfortunately, all these tests are often NOT done by mainstream doctors. However they are critical to diagnose and treat thyroid disorders.
- Free T3 & Free T4
- Reverse T3
- Thyroid Antibodies: anti-TPO and TgAb
Oh and there is a new reference range for TSH. Your doctor should be aware of this!!! The new range is 0.3 to 3.0 (LINK)
@RThoads You would probably get some better responses if you posted this in the men's health forum. Anyways, before starting TRT I would rule out anything else that might be causing the low T number. Get an MRI on your pituitary to make sure you don't have a tumor. Also, many docs/endos are really "up-to-date" when it comes to TRT and are very wary of prescribing it. It never hurts to get a second opinion from a different doc. It took me almost a year just to find a good endocrinologist that would listen to me. Best of luck bro!
Northern, I agree. I put some on ice before starting TRT.Was this post written one year ago? "Jan 14 2014" If so, what is your updated information?
Moving forward, if your primary concerns are fertility based then i suggest you continue with your endo to determine the best course of action in order to raise your testosterone levels (possible TRT) and continue to run tests to establish a baseline BEFORE you begin a cycle. Otherwise, you may end up chasing your tail.
Congrats! I hope that works best for you. After weeks of reading and research everyday for many hours, I have decided that I am ready to cruise (on TRT) with occasional Blasts.
This has been the most informative and helpful, honest board... I found some good sources of supplies and sources but no one pushed any products, sources, or sites and that is appreciated. People offered balances advice which shows both the positive as well as the negatives regarding choices and sources and that is also appreciated. I spent most of my time here and will stay here as my main online community.
Update on my situation with the Endo:
I am scheduled to go in tomorrow for more blood work for test levels. And again next week. He stated that if the both upcoming tests demonstrate a consistent deficiency he would prescribe TRT and (I called to confirm) it would be covered by my insurance.
Now I just hope the results are the same as the first test my PCP gave and then 2nd test the Endo gave (results in the first post here). IF those are the number again then I will get legitimate TRT.
Remember you are your doctor's boss and not the other way around. If your doctor does not listen and work with you , fire his ass. It sounds like this one is reluctant, but at least he gave in. Maybe you can educate him if you stay with him. Good luck!Got the results back. Four separate blood works in all. Every test showed the same and lower than the first one I had posted.
Endo approved of TRT.
He turned away from me and started writing and said,
"ok, we will be using androgel..."
I interrupted and said I had a few things I wanted to talk about first. He did not even look up at me. So I started asking things.
I mentioned my GF is not comfortable with the gel or having it around her or her daughter.
He got mad and told me,
"don't make important medical decisions based on others..."
Then I said, I live with her and I have to make sure others are also comfortable--It is not only me in question here.
He went off on a fit an actually got visible upset.
after some time he said,
"fine, do you want to have to come here and get huge shots with a big needle every twp weeks? the gel is so much superior and easy. less sides, easy to use, but if you insist upon injections you will have issues with spikes and lows, and a lot of sides such as testicular atrophy and the gel would have none of these issues."
I asked, why not just give the shots in a lesser quantity but more often to eliminate the spikes and lows? I brought a folder with peer reviewed publications that included the pharmaceutics of test cypionate. I also brought some patent info I found on various TRT products which showed half lives. I explained that with a 100mg dose weekly I would avoid the spike seen with the 200mg dose, and with a weekly shot I could avoid the lows seen at the end of the second week time interval.
The endo said,
"you would have to do your own shots that way. You need to have someone that know how to do them be with you and show you how."
I said,
"My GF is a nurse and knows how, it would be no problem." (I made that up because I did not want to have to come in every other week to see him--I just responded and didn't have time to think about it).
He said, annoyed and upset,
"fine, but it not the best option and you will hate having to get shots with a 22g needle in your thigh every week."
I asked,
"since it is a small volume, could I do subcutaneous?"
He shouted,
"NO, it must be IM only. Walmart? is that right for you pharmacy still? I will fax over a script for 10 ml test cyp and one refill. Tell receptionist you need bloodwork in 6 weeks and an appointment to evaluate treatment in 7 weeks."
and he walked out.
----------------------------------
I confirmed the script is at my local walmart and a script for huge 22g 1.5" syringes (I think he is trying to deter me???).
but unfortunately my insurance only covers test P and test Undecanoate (Aveed).
No way my doc will go for test P since he was already very upset with the idea of a shot once a week. After research, I am not even going to mention the Aveed because it would be a 3 to 4 ml shot every couple months and I am not interested in that long of a half-life or that large of a volume depot.
Looks like I will just have to pay cash for legit pharmacy test cyp and that is a win in my opinion. I will look for a good source for extra for blasts but at least my much needed TRT was finally approved by my doc.
Sadly, he was so uncomfortable already that I did not ask about and AI of HCG--I didn't want to ruin the progress I had already got.
thanks again MESO, and I will be happy to anwser any questions here. For my own future concerns or questions, if I have any I will be making a new thread in the men's health TRT section.
