Niacin and cholesterol

Okay, word. I just think unless your problem is genetics/hereditary, then it can be controlled by diet. Most people are too lazy to change their lifestyle, so yeah...they'll be staying on statins. But, I bet there's people that have changed their lifestyle/food habits and have not needed statins anymore.

I just started statins after having tried to better my diet for the past two years, and it's still yo-yo'd between the low 200's and almost 300. I've held my doctor off until recently...I hate that I have to take them, but at 42, i'm not trying to stroke out any time soon.
I concur, being older, not wanting to wake up half drooped and not being able to talk and or walk, not a good deal, thats why im getting one soon as well, been playin with this 180 ldl for over 15 yrs

Yes an nmr lipid profile shows my ldl is light and fluffy and not thick and dense, but, who's to say its not fluffy and looken to stick to everything and narrow my arteries?

Oh well time for me to take the leap i never wanted to, but now have to....

Mornin' y'all,
I have really been digging this stuff and the pins and needles feeling that it gave me.

So here we are 7 days in and the flushing feeling and red patches are no longer happening.
I liked the flushing and actually looked forward to it, why would it have just stopped?

That flush is a total rush! The Niacin is still working, but your body has gotten used to the flushing and no longer reacts the same to it. If you were to stop for a week or so and start back up, you would want to start at the lower dose or the flush may be too severe.

Speaking of which - when you first started and got the hives or severe blotchiness, did you start low dose and work your way up? I forgot to ask what your dosage was.

This is the dose I started with, I have not ramped up and do not think I need to.

These amounts are split between AM and PM

2000mg niacin
1600 mg CoQ-10
2400 mg ref yeast rice

You’re actually supposed to ramp it up lol. No wonder you got the hives the first few times.
